Kids or teenagers?
I'll have to agree with Roserend.
I couldn't help, but look down to the author comments before the movie was even over, mostly because I was confused/anxious of what was to happen. The kid smoking just totally threw me off. I understand how media effects teenagers in the aspect of drugs and smoking... but children? If you meant "kids" as in teenagers, I'd say it'd be better putting the character in a situation a normal teenager would be found in. I don't know that many teenagers that play with toy cars on the ground. That's normally seen as kids 8 or younger.
Going past the meaning, lets go to the art. It was simplistic, however it flowed well with the mood you were trying to convey.
