Here is the Newgrounds Flash version of "A Bid for Freedom".

It is a story that I wrote and converted into a small fable with images provided by the talented Nacho Rodriguez (who created Mr. Coo and won the #1 slot in Cold Hard Flash's Best Animated) and lush watercolours by his girlfriend Cecilia Deshayes.
It is an illustrated storybook, narrated for your pleasure by the debonair Andy Dennis, with guest turns by Sasuya and Josh "Tomamoto" Tomar you HAVE to hear!
The Storybook route was pursued so it could enter ReNaeNae's excellent Storybook Collab; Talents in writing, art, voice, sound, code etc. should give it a look!

To turn the pages, hover your mouse pointer over the bottom corner of the page, then left-click and drag the page across with your mouse until it fully flips over.
Narration starts on each page as you view it, but you're free to read at your own pace (you can right-click and select "Zoom In", then drag around to see all the fine details).

This story is NOT an attempt at hair-pin-bend trigger-happy balls-to-the-wall FBF hentai-maniac game-parodying shenanigannary. NO REALLY, IT'S NOT!
The power here is in the words and the pictures.
There is COMEDY, ACTION, DRAMA and ROMANCE, all skewed at odd angles.
There's fantasy, exotic locations, body odour, and even a fast car if you stick with it!
Have patience, we've many things to offer you. Stick with us. We're a good group.

Please vote and review showing respect to the combined talent and hard work involved in this Flash. A lot of passion went into this just for you guys, so be fair.
Critique, constructive criticism, suggestions, these are things we graciously accept.
If you vote or review abusively, you let Newgrounds down. Don't.
If this is "not your sort of thing" or you're somehow disappointed by the lack of animation, this is not the fault of anyone involved; no-one's forcing you to watch!

With all this in mind, we hope you enjoy (with your drink or snack of choice) our hard work, vote and review responsibly... and may your day be brighter.

This section is for the creative people out there:

This has been a hot coal in my hands for quite some time, burning with collective passion, yet I've been reluctant to throw it into the fire.
Enough people are happy with the results as they stand for me to go forth and submit it.
Trust that this will blossom over time as we come back to better adorn this work.

My preliminary thanks are on this page:

I additionally thank DrNeroCF for saving us in the coding department and Deathcon for further help; Joey Young ( for providing sound effects at short notice and the Very Odd House (http://www.theveryoddhou for a small snippet of lush score; and to Josh Tomar, introduced late into the project yet he delivered an outstanding performance within minutes of me asking him.
Further thanks go to the Newgrounds Team for their support of this work, and to all Newgrounds users who do the same (including Mr GUS, who is highly underrated: be sure to see his latest and vote for it in this year's Treasure Hunt).
Any other great participants that come to light will be remembered here equally.

Good animation, but it was very slow loading though this was a very good animation. I liked it how you putted this as a book andyou have to drag down to go the next page, say.... was this your idea? It was a very clever idea i see. And the voice actors, one word, NICE!

So, i have been lazy reading the book by myself but thanks for the voice talking for us i couldn't of done it thanks to the voice. Also the graphics feels kind of weird, but i know i liked the graphics, nice one though. Anyways don't worry about the graphics, i will vote fair.

So i maybe writing more than watching, but i wanna hurry up because it's night time! The first time i looked at this i thought it would be short as everybody does usually but this one was a long but very awesome one! Did you know how long it took you to make the animation? I know it would take a long time, with lots of words you putted.

Nice tittle, " A bid for freeroom" Nice title! Real nice! You did a very nice job, but now here are my scores:
Graphics: 7/10
Comedy: Unknown (Because it wasn't really a funny animation it's just about something not very funny.)
Music: Unkown (No music you putted)
Animation: 10/10
Creative: 10/10
Total Score: 10/10
Word: Nice! You deserve a Daily Second.

Now i hope you like and enjoy my review.

Hey there, thanks for your great review and your vote!

Glad you liked the title; it seems a pretty obvious fit now, but I had to brainstorm through a few other weird ones to get to it!

It's unfortunate that you were in a rush to view this before bed; did you get to the bit in the jungle? The story really kicks off there and there's some music to accompany them as they go up the stairs. I'd intended for a nice lush score to run throughout (uptempo piano at the party, tribal music etc.), but getting it to start/stop/change when you turn the pages was a programming nightmare. I think what's there is just enough to be effective... hopefully there's a fix around that'll solve the issue for future books.

Most importantly, I'm really happy that despite the various things that might have discouraged you from checking it out (loading, night-time etc.), that you still gave it a go and enjoyed it! We worked very hard (about two months to produce the whole thing start to finish) to make this a fun and engaging project, and I'm thoroughly pleased you went out of your way to experience and appreciate our work!

Cheers, and here's hoping we can entertain you further in the future!

We're really glad you enjoyed it!
Doctor Who fan, then? I really need to catch up on that when I get some time.
We'll bounce back with renewed vigour and more exciting projects in the near future, and hopefully we'll deliver something that is equally fantastic.
In the future, we'd all love it if you were to take a page from the good Doctor's book, and when you regenerate with a new review for our work, you'll arrive fresh with a grand arsenal of helpful comments and detailed critique to assist us in improving our projects, and new viewers in finding them.

This is truly a testament to what Newgrounds should be all about. Everything was so well done, and it was a really enjoyable experience. The watercolor was what really made it pop for me. The colors on the title page just pop wonderfully. I would go into to other aspects, but I'd just be saying the same thing.

Its amazing

I loved the art style, language, voice acting and everything else there is to say about it. It had a very cozy story-book feeling which is probably what made this so amazing. Very good!
