Here is the Newgrounds Flash version of "A Bid for Freedom".

It is a story that I wrote and converted into a small fable with images provided by the talented Nacho Rodriguez (who created Mr. Coo and won the #1 slot in Cold Hard Flash's Best Animated) and lush watercolours by his girlfriend Cecilia Deshayes.
It is an illustrated storybook, narrated for your pleasure by the debonair Andy Dennis, with guest turns by Sasuya and Josh "Tomamoto" Tomar you HAVE to hear!
The Storybook route was pursued so it could enter ReNaeNae's excellent Storybook Collab; Talents in writing, art, voice, sound, code etc. should give it a look!

To turn the pages, hover your mouse pointer over the bottom corner of the page, then left-click and drag the page across with your mouse until it fully flips over.
Narration starts on each page as you view it, but you're free to read at your own pace (you can right-click and select "Zoom In", then drag around to see all the fine details).

This story is NOT an attempt at hair-pin-bend trigger-happy balls-to-the-wall FBF hentai-maniac game-parodying shenanigannary. NO REALLY, IT'S NOT!
The power here is in the words and the pictures.
There is COMEDY, ACTION, DRAMA and ROMANCE, all skewed at odd angles.
There's fantasy, exotic locations, body odour, and even a fast car if you stick with it!
Have patience, we've many things to offer you. Stick with us. We're a good group.

Please vote and review showing respect to the combined talent and hard work involved in this Flash. A lot of passion went into this just for you guys, so be fair.
Critique, constructive criticism, suggestions, these are things we graciously accept.
If you vote or review abusively, you let Newgrounds down. Don't.
If this is "not your sort of thing" or you're somehow disappointed by the lack of animation, this is not the fault of anyone involved; no-one's forcing you to watch!

With all this in mind, we hope you enjoy (with your drink or snack of choice) our hard work, vote and review responsibly... and may your day be brighter.

This section is for the creative people out there:

This has been a hot coal in my hands for quite some time, burning with collective passion, yet I've been reluctant to throw it into the fire.
Enough people are happy with the results as they stand for me to go forth and submit it.
Trust that this will blossom over time as we come back to better adorn this work.

My preliminary thanks are on this page:

I additionally thank DrNeroCF for saving us in the coding department and Deathcon for further help; Joey Young ( for providing sound effects at short notice and the Very Odd House (http://www.theveryoddhou for a small snippet of lush score; and to Josh Tomar, introduced late into the project yet he delivered an outstanding performance within minutes of me asking him.
Further thanks go to the Newgrounds Team for their support of this work, and to all Newgrounds users who do the same (including Mr GUS, who is highly underrated: be sure to see his latest and vote for it in this year's Treasure Hunt).
Any other great participants that come to light will be remembered here equally.

This reveiw is going to go a little overboard

Bravo. Bravo. This was one of the Best stories I have ever read/ heard. The Illustrations are Perfect for the story. The Narration of the story makes a person feel they are being read and mature version of a fairy tail. Bravo and great job to the narrators. I think these should be required reading for college level Creative Writing classes. This last part about the college in by no means a joke.

Hahaha, you go just sufficiently overboard that we can grab you by your ankles and hoist you back onto the deck to congratulate you for your great comments!

Everyone involved worked fantastically well towards making this a hugely enjoyable and passion-infused book, and I certainly hope to work with them again in the near future towards even greater achievements.

My personal feeling towards my own writing as showcased here is that I could improve dramatically in my style and delivery if I was focused for a longer time on a subject that encouraged further development. I thank you profusely though for saying such kind things about it, and I really hope that the next generation of "new classics" spring from emerging writers breaking out on the Internet with completely untamed styles and no respect for the dust-gathering tomes of yore. Stay tuned!

Thanks once again for your wonderful support of our creative endeavours!
Hope to see you again - by requirement or not! :) - in the near future!

another great find for the day! i thought that this was a very pleasant story and as people have already commented on, the narrator was very well spoken. Which is nice to hear these days as it's very rare. Thanks for this. Good start to my day.

It's great to just happen upon something cool, isn't it? I hope you'll continue to explore for intriguing talents. A good start would be checking out some of our team's other projects and the links in this project's Author Comments, so you can see the sort of stuff we're into. You can also check our favourites (mine especially, as I've been a member for years and have seen most of the best Flash out there) for more great work (some of it may be a bit coarse, though, so use your discretion).

Andy is a major thespian in the making, and he tackled the lines with real care. I was thrilled to get him on board, as for a while it looked like time, work, life and health constraints would conspire against him. If you get a chance, you should check out some of his work; my favourite is the Cuboy series ( w/362842) which is great fun and very original.

Glad we made your day! Cheers for checking us out!

I thought it was a sweet story, at least until whats-her-face left him in the end. That was sad...

Thank you man, glad you enjoyed it! Maybe our Lead Guy will get himself another adventure in the future, another chance to learn from his mistakes... or make more!
Whatever the weather, I like telling these kinds of stories, and will doubtless produce an even greater tale of this nature not too far down the line.

Cheers for watching!

Wow this truely was a great read, or to...if that makes any sense at all. Anyway, I loved the story, the narration was delightful , the art was fantastic, and the story had a great twist at the end ^_^. Hope to see more from you in the future.

"Read to..." Like being read to, having it narrated for you? Yeah, that makes sense!

Thanks so much for your great review; you'll certainly see more of my work in the future, and hopefully I'll see another lovely review from you to accompany it!
