good tut
coulda used some better animation in the beginning and maybe some music coulda been added too. overall though, good tut.
this tutorial is going to show you how to make a custom cursor on both flash 8 (Actionscript 2.0) and flash CS3 (Actionscript 3.0)
if u have any questions send me a PM
and if your wondering what type of actionscript i used to make thi it was Actionscript 2.0. scince i dont have really a clue with AS3.0 its the best ive got so far.
Both Scripts Work, ive tried both!
hope this helps with something!
____________
EDIT:
-
ive put a background
-
ive coloured the coding to suite the flash colors with the Actionscript!
-
ive made the meanings of the code eiser to read,
-
ive added the meanings to the AS3.0 coding
-
and scince ive just remembered that there has to be a instance name on the cursor in AS3.0 ive added that in aswell!
-
fixed the custom mouse being behind everything to infront
and if you do end up downloading this, it is viewed best at a 550x400px area!

thx! i might think about it...
cool
i gotta try this
you do that and tell me what you think!
Awesome =]
This is fantastic. I've been wanting to know how to make a custom cursor.
One of the main highlights here is that you explained what the actionscript actually DID. You don't come across that often and is probably the most essential part when it comes to learning digital programs, thanks heaps =]
Only thing, the shape tweens didn't turn out to well here I'm afraid =\
thx
im going to put what the code means in the AS3.0 bit soon!
going from 'the' to 'custom'? i dont know what happened maybe because there wasnt enough of shape in the going to custom... but if theres something wrong about cursor shape changing like that its supposed to happen,,,
good tutorial
Hey not bad! Construction seemed a bit rushed but content makes up for it!
one question, do you put the code in the first keframe on the stage?
thanks, and with the AS2.0 bit you put it on the actual cursor, with the AS3.0 you put it on the frame where cursor starts, if you are using AS3.0 i suggest you make a new layer and do it link that!
Decent Tutorial
I think this is great for noob flash users like me. Thanks.
lol and your welcome!
