Assault On Scotland

Author Comments

This is the brutal story of the first attempt by the Romans to conquer Scotland. As you can see from the movie, the Scots won. This is my first half decent flash animation, so be nice. I have alot of room to improve, so help me with that.
P.S. I know that it probably is not very accurate, but I really don't care. Don't review it for its accuracy. I will just ignore it.
P.P.S. When i watched it on NG it was lagging in the King/General Scene, which really screws up the sound. So try to do something like lowering the quality to make it run faster.

history out the windiow

i understand you did as a joke but try and make it a bit historicly acurate and use relistic time frames so funny but awful

Problems

The place was not called Scotland at the time, since the Scots (Scotti) were Gaelic Irish raiders/settlers that came over later (c. 6th-8th Century) from the west. The place was called, at the time of the Roman invasion, Caledonia. "Scotland" was the land not of Scots, but Picts (Picti) during the classical Roman era.

A banshee (bann sidhe) literally means "woman ghost" and is a Gaelic term. It has nothing to do with the Roman invasion.

Also, you drew the Roman emperor with a crown, when he really should be sporting a laurel wreath instead.

The Picts actually got overrun up to Forth and Clyde during Agricola's campaign 79-83 AD, and later the Antonine Wall was built 142 AD, meaning half of Caledonia was subjugated to the Romans for a time. Yet the Romans withdrew to Hadrian's wall c. 160. Why? Not so much that the Pict had "defeated" the Romans. But moreso that they were rather unruly and the province of Caledonia was unprofitable for the empire to maintain. They maintained a "pale" -- a defensive borderlands, for a few centuries more north of the wall.

Serpent60 responds:

Did you not read the author comments!!!??? I don;t care how inaccurate this is. I did about twenty minutes of research in school, and that was it!

put a little more into it

the voices were a little rough, the animation could be better. I liked the bagpipes, and if that was you, Good Job. The artwork was superb, not your normal stick crap thats out there. Just tweak a few things and it will be a lot better.

Serpent60 responds:

Sure, i'll do that

bad graphics

i thnk that you could do alot better on this just try a bit harder next time
p.s make the legs of the stick people bend so it looks like they are walking not sliding down a flat piece of land

Serpent60 responds:

"I was doing this for school and i originally did it in paper cut outs which had no walking cycle, so i wanted to do the same thing." (I already said this)
