XATCH-Alpha Transmission

Author Comments

This is a short video featuring some test clips from a project I'm working on.

"Xatch" will be an animated sci-fi series.

Since this is kind of a preview, I've named it "Xatch - Alpha Transmission".

Hope you like it!

A small note, the last portion of the demo (from the giant eye scene on) are my first test clips, from before I knew about tweening. Also, in case you're wondering, the reason the music cuts out here is because this is really two demos in one. The last half was just added for "fun".

UPDATE: If you're experiencing extreme slowdown, particularly in the scenes with more detailed background art, its because this video seems to have fairly high system requirements. It plays fine on my PC (Dual core processor, GeForce 8, Cable internet), but not so great on my friend's PC (Pentium II, GeForce 5600, DSL internet). All of the clips were from my "experimental" phase, before I knew better techniques for optimization. On the upside, future finished installments should not only look better, but also run more fluidly on lower end systems.

likey

Really nice, I hope you make it a good animation series, good luck.

Does that count as mild nudity? lol

Squink responds:

Ha, yeah, I had to think about the nudity thing a bit. Figured I'd mention it in the rating just to be safe.

Thanks for your compliment and generous rating. I'm glad you liked it.

soen

it looks nice, but it needs a plot instead of the guy just kills a lot of monsters.

Catchy tune

Brilliant drawings and I like how the monster's eyes emerge. It looks interesting, I'll be looking forward for more.

ruff around the edges

Just from the long and slow scenes and the music dropping off i can tell your a new animator. however there is much room for inprovment.

I would like to see your art style in a nice full length animation.

Squink responds:

Thanks for your critique. However, the music drops off because I tacked on a couple of older scenes.
