The Poles (Trailer)

Co-Creator Matt Siemieniuk and I are brothers. The premise for this series is based loosely on our own family life when we were growing up. I've actually been working on this since I started learning Flash over six weeks ago. Because we're still new to this process, production probably won't be done until March of 2008. This is our very first Flash release, so there isn't anything to live up to yet.

The concept is definitely NOT too original, with the exception of our choice to use a Polish protagonist over another ethnic group. The Back to the Future thing is all over the place as well. We're merely looking to take a basic concept, and identify with an audience by having to rely on story structure and character development. I wouldn't mistake my primitive animation and basic drawing style as much of a "technique." As simplistic as it is, I prefer to keep it that way. It just looks funnier.

I'm half-expecting my e-mail to be overflowing with spam and virus attachments once this hits the internet. The reason I say this is because:

When I first joined Newgrounds in November 2007, I paid a visit to the BBC. I posted a thread in which I stated I was a writer looking for an animator. The response I received was crude at best. Feeling a little hopeless in befriending an animator, I decided to learn the program myself.

This trailer was done more as a test animation than anything else. As a result, it doesn't feature any of the series main characters, except for two of them sans a speaking role. Also, I don't deny the fact that a bunch of cartoons have shamelessly littered their content with references to pop-culture, especially here on Newgrounds, and I don't deny that we have done the exact same thing with this trailer. If the stones will be cast from the starters pistol, the only thing left to say is, "at least we're having fun."

Now, for the self-promotion. If you take a listen to the intro song for this trailer, despite its intensely reduced quality, you'll also see that it was done by a band called "ADALIE.." That is our band. If you want to check us out, and possibly check out the songs in higher quality, visit www.myspace.com/adaliepa

We're not really bigots.

That was a great Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox impersonation...albeit, I'm impressed with some of the voice talent, I think this piece just shoulda had more to it. It was lacking in content pretty badly, although it was an entertaining filler.

Keep at it! Voting 5!

A family guy idea rip-off based on your own family, starting off with a TV show featuring a non-comical contemporary pop-culture reference? BOOO I say.
