[update] *Fixed the Loading bar...*

This game is a little weird, i'm not sure how it will be recieved - but I had it lying on my computer for over 2 months and I wasn't doing anything with it so - I decided: what have I got to lose by releasing it? I didn't see much point keeping it to myself regardless of how well its liked.

Basically this game gives you a target cursor, your ship faces wherever your mouse points at, left mouse click to fire. Rather than upgrade your own stuff (as is the norm) I thought it'd be neat if you could upgrade your enemies instead. You decide how difficult the game is early on - but it always gets extremely hard to the point where you lose. how far can you go?

Features:
-4 different game speeds. I recommend playing on medium first as slow may be too slow for you, and the fastest might be TOO fast.
-Up to 16 enemy ships at once, all of which can fire on you.
-9 Enemy Upgrades
-4 Audio tracks, 3 of which go faster when the playing field doubles in size.
-Spinning enemys (used to be an option but I forced it on all the time).
An unusual Health bar, basically your health is reliant on how close you are to the earth, you "burn" up in the atmosphere.
-Compiled in Flash 7, might work on a console, dunno... can't test it.

It's called Tempt Fate because your fate is in your hands. :D - There might be a bug in the game but i've never encountered anything serious enough to stop me posting. If something bothers people enough i'll try and fix it - or better yet just make a sequel thats better than this in every way [/rant]

This is/was more of a concept experiment than anything else :)

lol

fun game to play, pretty simple but interesting
keep up the good work

cool

great concept. i wish the character was smaller, though

Sayargh responds:

If I had made the character smaller when the field shrinks down you'd barely have seen him, good idea though, maybe i'll do it in the next game, with 800x600 instead of 640x480 it might work. thanks!

simple yet engaging

very simplistic concept that i've seen else where but i didn't hate it. if the graphics were revamped this wouldn't be half bad for the genra.

Sayargh responds:

Yeah, asteriods + whack a mole + very faint rpg level up mechanic + a little defend your base, it didn't work out as well as i'd hoped... graphically, it was better but i toned it down in favor of performance over looks... thanks for the review.

good concept

This is a good game with a good concept. Though the health thing is kind of stupid.

Sayargh responds:

No Health means you can't lose therefore its not a game. Its not that stupid, each fire of the enemy knocks you slightly towards the earth, and your ship can't survive the drop. The enemies have better technology so they can.

ummm...

First off, you should get that loading bar fixed. Second, it was a good concept enabling the player to be the one to thinker around with the game mechanics but it wasn't fully utilized. The concept behind it may have been original but it was brought down by the flash. It seemed like I was playing a half finished alpha or something.

You should develop this game's scheme and put it into a more "enthralling" experience.

Sayargh responds:

Done, I agree it needed more options... to be honest, Like I said it was sitting around for months on my hard drive, completely untouched and I had no intention of ever going further with it so I decided what the heck release it, that way the week i spend programming it wasn't *totally* wasted... I guess.
Thanks for the review!
