I've had a read of the comments, thanx for the constructive criticism. New stuff is on its way... im not done "Reinventing" it yet. As some have pointed out, the FX need a bit of tweaking, that's easy to fix. As far as button reaction time, less luck there: there are a few things i can try, but it's pretty much as best as flash can manage-- its not exactly a great programming language, just easy to use.
I'll also take a look at the music thing and definitely add a mute check box.

i LOVE tetris!
Tetris is one of the greatest games of all time! simple, fun, addicting. you've taken it and done absolutely nothing with it and yet you call it a reinvention? it's pretty. I'll give you that but its got everything I've seen a million times before and nothing that makes it unique. I love Tetris but this one just didn't wow me like I was hoping. sorry. follow the last guy's advice and at the very least add some cool music. there's plenty of remixes of the Tetris theme out there (I've downloaded 4). my all time favorite is by Happy Hardcore.

Possible improvements:
-make the rotate sound quieter and the 'down' sound louder
-maybe make the down key move it down 1 space and have another key send it straight to the bottom. In tetris you sometimes want to move it into a space at the last second, and it's a pain to have to wait
-music to suit the 'techno' effects
-implement a menu, rather than making it start off paused
-mute button (this should be in every game!)
Overall, a very good start - keep at it.

OK, i think i found a glitch. If you continuously rotate the piece it doesnt fall so you hav endless time to get it in the right position. And although it was a slight update of Tetris it was, to be honest, just Tetris for me. I'm gonna give u a fair score because the graphix and effects were pretty kewl but needs music and personally i'd enjoy more of a twist on the original. But for what it is, well done, you made a good lookin and sounding game.
a quick time waster
wasnt great, started of good the effects worked, but later on when the speed increased i couldnt tell what the hell they where or which way there was facing also the speed was so quick i couldnt move the blocks beacuse the button speed stayed the same... i got a score of 406000 on my first try, with the ending speed at 3588... the things you should change, A; when the speed increases... you should also increase the reaction time of the blocks, B; make a effect box, you had plently of space on the flash, so you could trigger effects on or off...
also looking at reviews about this, make it clear like "Paused, click to start".. just thought it might help out if you were to try somthing like this again... chow
