Mars Racer (2.0)

Author Comments

The year is 2136 and the Earth has become so overpopulated that the human race has had no choice but to look elsewhere for a habitat. They have turned their attention to the planet Mars, which is nothing but one large desert.

Scientists believe, however, that it would be possible to "terraform" Mars--to turn its harsh, cold and lifeless atmosphere into an Earth-like atmosphere capable of supporting life. The answer lies in water. With enough water in the sky, scientists could increase the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, thus raising the ambient temperature of the planet. Once this is done, the rains would begin to fall, and the planet could dupport liquid water, which would flow across the surface, forming rivers and oceans. From here, scientists could introduce bacteria and simple plants to begin the process of converting the carbon dioxide-rich environment into an oxygen-rich environment.

Once this is done, they would have created a new Earth. Now it all comes down to you. in order to get this water into the Martian atmosphere, you must drive your four-wheel-drive all-terrain vehicle across the surface of the planet and find the pockets of frozen water near the ground. You must scoop tehm up one at a time and watch as the planet slowly transforms into a life-giving world.

Watch out, though! Mars is littered with deep canyons, rocks, and hills. Also, there appears to be giant bones of an ancient race of creatures, recently discovered, strewn across the surface.

Can you help give life to Mars?

-Note to Newgrounds about the preloader-

I only have one frame, so I couldn't add the preloader before it. I tried, it didn't work. It's still worth it though.

Yes this is stolen...

Yes, this is stolen from flash 8 game development book. Everything here is created by glen rhodes. as a matter of fact, i actually have the disk the original . fla came on, but i bought it and did not steal it.

_Simply Stolen_

All source code, graphics, story, and sound are stolen from Macromedia Flash Professional 8 Game Development by Glen Rhodes, Charles River Media Inc.
The book comes with a CD that contains the .fla file.

Solid Game. Needs a bit improvement.

I'd like, maybe a preloader, as Mr. Lino said, and a time limit and more realistic physics as Dark-Avatar said. Maybe have it so that if you land upside down, you lose a life or somthing. Next, I'd like it if Mars didn't just eventually turn green, because it sort of turns into a snotty colour. Maybe have random lakes, clouds, wildlife, the occasional bird chirping and such. Maybe slowly see construction on the colony, or somthing like that. This game has massive potential, and I'm sure with enough time and effort, this could be a front-pager. Excellent work.
As Dark-Avatar put it *Throws in Favs*

Swordsplay responds:

I will give that a shot ... definitely. Unfortunately my computer that has flash is completely destroyed ... and I have no money for a good one atm ... especially me getting married soon {a year is soon right?}. I need money for that.

its year....

its year of 2136 and human life has been erradicated from the universe due to the global warming. ^^

well, its a great game, but you should make a preloader and a instructions page.

Swordsplay responds:

I will keep that in mind, thank you for your support.

^.^

I like this game.

It's a neat game. I only would've asked for a time limit, and more realistic physics. All in all, a great game. *throws in favs"

Swordsplay responds:

Wow! I got my first fav! ^.^

Thank you for your comments.
