Star Blaster

Star Blaster is a personal game project of mine that recently reached completion. It is without a doubt the greatest thing I've ever made. Three months, over 3000 lines of code, hundreds of hours, and tons of playtests. There are eighteen levels, three bosses, and some nifty little extras.

The core elements of the game are exploring and shooting. The core mechanic involves the spaceship following the mouse around (or keyboard+mouse controls which I prefer). This allows the ship to aim in 360 degrees, creating the most refined control ever seen in a 2D Space shooter.

My goal for this game was to capture the feel of a classic 80s videogame. The space ship theme is a concept players can easily understand and get into, while the game mechanics are just as accessable. Star Blaster's feature set is small and simple, but also polished to a superior degree.

I can't thank Rushjet1 enough for letting me use his music. His work is incredable. :D

I've done my best to keep glitches to a minimum, but one can never make a perfect game. Do report bugs and I'll fix them as best as I can.

You wont see a sequel for a while, but a level editor shouldn't be too much trouble I think. Anyone interested?

It's ok

very good but it would be better if you added power ups and choice of ship

fun but....

it was good, the idea of it and the game play. the only thing was the controls. it might have just been me or the game, but i couldnt keep it still.
