I know everybody has made a pong game, but if you try this one, I know you will be impressed.

To play by yourself, turn the AI on. The controls are listed in the game.

pure shit

Controls are horrible, fix them, lame ass sound, add some good music or something, boring, good concept, shit execution

Matadio responds:

First off, the paddle rotates around the ball, so you need to learn how to control the paddle, which is part of the challenge, even though I am working on a way to improve the controls.

There isn't really a need for sound or music, but I guess I could add some background music and effects, just to keep you quiet.

And while you say it was badly executed, wait until the second one is done.

why this game sucks

Please consider the following:

1. Your controls suck... as does your concept of reality for thinking anyone would want to play this shit.
2. VERY buggy. You'd hit the ball and fly right through it.
3. AI = dumb as shit.
4. No originality whatsoever. I'm pretty sure I saw this on TV. BEFORE you made it.
5. It seems very rushed. AND you haven't made the critical updates you said you were going to make. This game needs those updates to show any sign of being playable.
6. You're a hypocrite. You belittle those who make feeble attempts to make a flash game or movie, then throw a hissyfit when someone makes fun of your feeble attempts. The flashes that you've negatively reviewed are better in comparison to this Turd Of The Week.
7. This looks like it was a culminating task for a grade 11 computer tech class. I mean come on try harder.

Thanks for nothing. Catch ya later.

Well yeah there has been lots of these but this version was neat, allthough it could be slightly improved maybe something that makes it your own, anyways i had fun with it.

Make something with the game that will change it from all the other ones out there.

A fun game.

Good Idea

The idea would be good, but I think you should work on the way, the pad hits the ball. I think, this is horrible :D

I like the graphics.

Here's an idea

This is a relatively original take on an arcade game. There is however one major flaw that makes playing it frustrating rather than enjoyable, and that is that because the control is absolute, there is little one can do to manipulate the puck with any precision. However, once the AI has a hold of it, they can shoehorn it any way they please, which is very annoying. For this, I suggest if you tried either changing the physics (but the behavior seems fairly...not very...but fairly intuitive and thus realistic), or else the controls, such that it used 2 sets of directional control, maybe keyboard + mouse (one for the direction of the paddle, one for the paddle movement, as opposed to the kind of tweening motion we see here which isn't very controllable), then it'd be a ton of competitive fun.

The other thing I see is the scoring- either the script is buggy or I found it to be slightly inconsistent. You may wish to explain it somewhere or tighten the code.

Otherwise I'd say this was something fresh and if those problems were fixed, I'd dig it good.

Matadio responds:

I like the mouse and keyboard control idea, but the problem with it is that I don't like mouse controls in Flash. When you move the mouse outside of the game, it stops working, and therefore causes much chaos and confusion.

This was my first attempt with AI, and all I can say is that it did the job. The AI moves too fast, and thats the real problem. I don't want to mess with the code at this point, but the next version will be totally radically awesomely yeah!

The score works like this:
The gold trophy score is how much you recieve if you get the ball out of the arena at that time. The more you hit the puck/ball, the higher the points get. That's really all there is to it. There is no real diffrence in score as to wether you knock the puck/ball out at that time, or at a later time, so there are no combos, but I will be addin that in the future.
