This streetcar sign animation was completed in Chicago, Illinois on 2005-11-12. The original photo was taken in Portland, Oregon on 2005-09-19, but it took me over a month to decide exactly what approach to use. After a couple of false starts (including writing half of a Space Invaders game in ActionScript) I decided to animate everything by hand. It took a while, but I think the results are convincing.
