Monky Head (2001) was nominated in the Bit Film Fest (2003) in Germany, in the 2002 OFFF Fest in Spain and in the 23rd Havana Film Festival (2001). Monky Head was the winner in several festivals in its country, like the Equinoxio (Universidad Nacional de Colombia), Sin Formato ( Ministerio de la Cultura) and The International Macromedia user Group Prize.
Good, but not great
I thought it was a good movie up until Mateo killed the guy who looked after him. I thought it was stupid because Mateo looks like a toddler and it's not very believable that a kid that young would understand he killed his father and kill him as payback. Still a good movie, but I think it would have been better if you made Mateo a bit older.

Guessing by the score, I'll assume that most people rated this based on the animation and not the coherent, heartfelt story. Which it was, and one of the best animations overall that I have seen.
Some of the tweened animation was a little forced, it wouldn't hurt to add on or two more different angles/symbols so it doesn't seem so stilted. But it didn't really take anything away from the movie.
I know it won awards, but...
The story wasn't all that original & the sound was uneven & clipped off annoyingly too short at the end of some scenes. Otherwise, not a bad effort, but I suspect the creator has enough talent to do better.
