Well, this is partially inspired by The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and partially inspired by another book I am reading entitled "Flash MX 2004 Game Programming". I wanted to submit this to the Alpha section, but I need a valid newgrounds entry! Anyway, this is my first original game, let me know what you think, blam it if you must, I can take it :)

Update (4/1):
It seems I have solved the getting stuck bugs, but for debugging i left the ability to press the 'r' button to reset your character to the middle of the screen.

I couldn't find sound effects for the contact between the balls that wasn't neurotic after 30 seconds! Any ideas?

Oh, and it's only 15KB, so I didn't bother writing a preloader for it.

For the next one:

Have black holes and such for the planets to fall into.

The concept is very simple, you are some sort of green ball bent on destroying or at least bumping into other balls that have designs very similar to different planets. Or in lamens terms, a game of pool personified in flash, with the object to hit the a ball in one move and not to miss. I would of had some more consequences, like only 3 lives as that would of helped with the gameplay. Some sound effects like if you racked up a lot of points woudl also have been appreciated. The controls were simple, a click here, a click there. Basicially, the game seemed a little to simple, but shows promise - keep working on it and you will have something viable. Great for it's file size.

Fun, once you get to know it

It's a great concept; and it plays out really well. Just keep working on the design and aesthetics (and sound) and it'll be great.

Addicting

It may not have the worlds greatest looks (although they look okay) but somehow the gameplay was very addicting and I was desperatly yelling at my comp when I send the bal in a direction it shouldn't have gone or a fraction of a second earlier.

All in all there is room for development but I sure did like it for such a simple looking game.

good... but missing

I think it's a great idea for a puzzle game but I feal that you could develop it more. Maybe have set goals? Level progression? You could introduce obstacles? I hope you try going further with this (because it could kick alot of ass).

epheph responds:

Absolutely, i'm looking forward to adding level progression. The game doesn't really go anywhere as it stands, I'll probably have the game start out easier, and progress into more difficult with obstacles and such. NG wouldn't let me post this to the Alpha section, because i didn't yet have a project that passed judgement, but now I do! Thanks for the suggestions!
