Guys, remember, this is made in 2004, so of course the sound is going to kinda suck, most flash games (not all) are going to have sucky quality. Shit, I'm kinda impressed you can still do ground movements with the bricks. But, it hasn't aged well, and there are betters versions of tetris in flash out there. But I'm a sucker for old flash games, and I did waste a few minutes and managed to get that "mesmerized tetris" state. So, I only recommend to play out of curiosity.
Yeah this game is garbage compared to several other Tetris remakes. I was thinking of spending a day and remaking it properly sometime, but there's already 300 Tetris remakes on this site alone, so I don't know if it would be worth it.
you forgot the rotate left and rotate right function, which is important to get real high scores! And the music is compressed too much. I like the gameboy design and it is cool to have the old gameboy version of Tetris on Newgrounds.
How did you mess something like Tetris up? The audio sounds like you just recorded music from your Game Boy, the controls can get finicky, and something as simple as starting the game or pausing can get messed up because the button is hidden by the score and stuff! The only good thing about this is the details make it look like i'm actually playing the real Gameboy Tetris. But this is a very very VERY bad game.
Is there way you can mess up Tetris?
I always find a way to mess up something! :)
I like the classic feel and the detail put into the graphics.
Unfortunately, that's all I like about it. The touchy arrow controls, glitchy gameplay, and lack of scoring based on blocks falling makes this one a quick five-minute decision.
And the classic pieces were different textures for a reason: when we glance at it, we don't need to see the whole shape in order to have that extra half of a second to deduce where the piece has to go. Therefore, having the different-shaped blocks falling with random textures makes this thing even harder. That and the blocks falling without you touching the button, just because you were trying to get the last block to fall and it didn't want to?
Good idea, bad execution.
