Edit: ok, i'll remind you, i DIDN'T write this poem, i just animated it. I support life, i just thought this was very well explained.

Well this is my first newgrounds submission, and my first public flash. I'm hosted by a website called SoulPoetry.com, i program that page, and there was an artist that made this poem "No longer afraid of the dawn" that i thought was just awesome, so i tried my best to animated it, in about 3 days, and i did, i hope you all will like it, my page is http://www.soulpoetry.com/emotionalsickness if you'd like to visit and sign the guest book.

cool

Oooh, very well done with the dark moody attitude. The font size could be a bit bigger so we can actually read it. And there is no sound, bah. Nice drawings along with the background. Don't make the animation so slow neither and the person looked funky. Nice try.

not too bad

i have to say though, it wasnt my favourite movie... it was kinda weird, seeing as though its suicidal and all, but meh, it made for an ok movie.
graphics were ok. nothing really looked BAD.
the animation was very scarse, so i cant make much of a comment on it.
the sounds were also very scarse. only one or two sound effects, and the rest of the movie was silent.
then there were the poems... they were good. but the writing was just too damn small! i could hardly read most of what was on the screen.
so overall not too bad, but not terribly good, either.
overall score: 5/10

ok

not bad animation. where did you get the poem from?

Didn't like it

Boo!

watch filmclips

Leaving completely aside for the moment how bad the poetry was... If I were to read that poetry and then imagine what was going on, my mental visualisations would be far better than your animation. If you absolutely HAVE to animate poetry instead of just showing what the poem describes use some metaphors or tell a different yet related story.

Watch some filmclips and you'll see how fine an art it is to construct them (whether you realise this or not an animation accompanying a poem is a filmclip).

Once you've learned how to make filmclips then you might want to A) pick a poem that doesn't suck and B) learn to draw a little better and C) include some sound.

emotionalsickness responds:

k that is your opinion and i appreciate it, but A)Different people have different tastes in poetry. And i'm not going to review everything with you. B) if you didn't see, i made this in 3 days, i should've spent more time on this, but i was pressured to finish it. C)I know i should've put some sound in, sorry it's not as great as you wanted.

and finally, i don't plan on animating any more poems with the scripts, but i do plan on animating things i have wrote, which are nothing like this person wrote.
