EDIT: Sorry, there was a bug with the preloader and music earlier... should be fixed now.
"Friends, we're hardly strangers at meeting danger. And this danger is no worse than what we faced when Cyclops penned us up in his vaulted cave with crushing force. But even then, my courage, my presence of mind and tactics saved us all. And we will live to remember THIS someday, I have no doubt. Up now, follow my orders, all of us work as one. You men at the thwarts, lay on with your oars and strike the heaving swells, trusting that Zeus will pull us through these straits alive. And you, helmsman, here's your order, burn it in your mind. The steering-oar of our rolling ship is in your hands. Keep her clear of the smoke and surging breakers, head for those crags, or she'll catch you off guard! She'll yaw over there, you'll plunge us all in ruin!"

GO MYTHOLOGY!

That was AWSOME! I love the story of the Scylla and you animated it so well! Make more !

Homer's Illiad

I truly love this story and seeing a flash made of it was wonderful. Scylla and Charybdis weren't always monsters. At one time, Both were beautiful but vain women and they were punished by the Gods.
Anyways, I digress.
Your flash is an excellent portrayal. I hope to see one of the Siren song soon!

Understated Graphics Makes for a Great Movie

First.. to the previous poster asking about Odysseus and Charybdis, Odysseus DID encounter Charybdis (not at the same time as he lost six men to Scylla though). Zeus destroys his fleet for their sin of eating Helios's cattle within the vicinity of Charybdis where a sudden wind had blown them. With their ships destroyed, the Ithacan sailors were either sucked into Charybdis or died when the ships were hit by Zeus' lighting bolt. Odysseus survived Charybdis by grabbing onto a nearby fig-tree by the entrance. Paddling on a raft made from parts of his ship, he made to Ogygia where Calypso was.

But to the movie itself, kudos. The understatement of the graphics helped me greatly imagine the action in full and was key to the success of the animation. The image of Scylla seems a bit cliche since the TV movie from 1997 about Odysseus also used a similiar concept. Definitely worth a 5 and a spot on my favorite submissions list!

it was good

It was good, but I don't think Odysseus even encounted Charybis. That was the point of good ol' Schylla. Nice animation, anyway.

LOVED IT!

Great impact of that part of the Odyssey!
Just wonderful!
Showed all you needed!
I loved it!
