From five of Newgrounds Top 50 Ranking artists-- Ericblak, Pinnicle, SickDeathFiend, DonQuixote, and T0MMY-- comes the first ever jam session: Newgrounds Jam #1.

This is a group project in which the artists listened to an original soundtrack and each created an animated segment based on that track.

This was an incredible project to work on with some incredible talent. We all had fun and we hope you have a great time watching our work.

Have fun.

Does anyone else look back to the history? I do

Some interesting and diverse art styles presented in this jam, truly a relic of early days of creativity and experimentation. Don't mean to sound like an old fart, but I can't appreciate the bland, saccharine pseudo-anime/modern round cartoon styles with no personality that so many artists on NG use nowadays. Stuff like this is a breath of fresh air.

I think this was in fact the first jam that ever appeared on this website. It's great to see where it all started. I admit that some of the animation is dated. I just wasn't expecting that in a jam. You guys also could have used different songs. Still, I enjoyed this.

The best was the last one. I didn't recognize a lot of you guys. SickDeathFiend is the one I'm the most familiar with, but I remember Pinnicle too. They were all pretty good. It gets a lot better later.

All of these shorts are pretty original and each tell a story that is very different from the others, although the last two were a bit of a mind screw to understand. Good job all of you!

Even back in 2003 this place features some pretty talented people! Though the same music loops through each segment of this creative mesh, it seems to fit in for each part. It's all varied and creative in difference ways, with frame by frame, tween, even what looks like manual artwork thrown into the mix. One of the more interesting and intriguing jams I've seen, by a few artists that seem to have been just before my time. Nice work!
