It worked well, but I also had the "target not found" message until I realized I gave the symbol the name "loader" but I forgot to name the instance of that symbol. The author mentions that in the tutorial but it's easy to forget. Be sure to type in "loader" in the "instance name" window that appears on the left hand side of the "properties" menu when you click on the loader symbol. That's what Flash is trying to reference.

A pretty good tutorial. This stuff could also probably be used for an animated preloader, which is something I'll have to try doing.
I only have some small complaints: It was kind of unprofessional at times... You could have expressed things better than put the square at the far left of the others...
I found this one a lot more helpful than the tut called preloader tut for idiots or something like that. That one didn't even work when I tried...
