Nice. The blur does sorta mess it up but its still nice. It reminds me alot of one of my favorite musicians, Tom Waits.

:Blur stuff
I did all of these with nothing else but the default pen tool at 0 hardness, which gives it a blurr feel to it. Your right with the sharp lines, but i think it would have made it look weird, now that the rest of it is so blurry. I love working like this tough, do you think i could turn it into something usefull instead of just sketches?

Thanks, i do all my work in Photoshop CS2 (its old) with a wacom intous 3. these perticular pictures were made with the default brush on hardness 0, not sure you can change that in gimp. Your picture is good, but you should rather make your own thread than posting your pictures in others threads ;)
Keep it up tough

Sweeeet. It looks pretty awesome. I'd say that the space station looks to be done in a different style than the planet, as though it was a different drawing placed over the space theme.

their is too much sugar coating on this site. Now i will say that you have some good ideas but your anatomy, shading, values, hardness, saturation, perspective is all shit. Yea.. What i recommend you do is get Andrew Loomis books for anatomy they are for free online, do real life studies with inanimate objects and people. Go to posemaniacs.com and do some studying their then lets see how your art will be after that.
This is my try on illustrating Babylon as a person
Heres a list of the symbols
Halo = The strong religion
Mask = Mystique and estetics
Hair = The hanging gardens
Scrolls = Their highly developed knowledge
Snake = The Babylonian city god
Pregnant = Babylon was placed in the region Sumer, which was said to be the cradle of civilization.
