I'd go as far as to say that gay women are almost encouraged in society (via retarded males wanting to get off on it and radical feminists).

Slash Fic. Also, because you all have too much spare time: see also Yaoi Fangirl and its spear counterpart Girl On Girl Is Hot.

Yeah, I've always been sorta confused by that. My friend once said that he was all for women being together, but when I asked him about guys, he said that it was "too gay".

It is stupid how people are so offensive against 2 male gay people yet not against 2 female gay people. It's the same thing there shouldn't be any difference. But of course there always will be, hypocritical bastards encouraging gay women and flaming gay men.

Yeah, there's really countless double standards and the only people who have seemed to notice are the feminists who don't give a fuck about double standards that go against men.

Honestly, I understand what you mean, but what I'm simply saying is each sex has it's own little "perks". In terms of socially, you have feminists trying to even out the perks men have so women get them as well, however you haven't got any form of group trying to do the same back. The closest you can come to is "Justice For Dads" (I think they're called) trying to even it out so men have a right to see their kids despite the mother not wanting their dad to see them. However, in society, men are not allowed to refuse the mother to see her kids unless there is some sort of court order due to psychological problems.

You may be right and it may just be a case of "grass is greener on the other side" crap, but from my perspective, there is a serious equality issue in society. I will agree that women don't get some of the social "perks" men do (e.g. men who sleep around are a champion and women who do are whores by working class culture), but people often over look the injustices that sometimes face the majority or any group which is thought of as in a "better social situation".

Well, aside from my dad being a total deadbeat, I do agree on the Justice For Dads thing. Divorces are skewed towards the mothers. There is an inequality there, and it should be adressed.

To be fair enough, straight white males aren't exactly that oppressed online. In experience, at least with online games, they run rampant spewing out racist, homophobic and sexist comments at people either in a joking or just plain retarded fashion. About ten minutes ago, I was playing Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on-line and, with no surprise, there were abuse flung by one person at everyone else. The part I remember the most was when he imitated someone with a Pakistani accent and told everyone what a fucking Paki bastard everyone else is.

Honestly, it was out-right astounding.

That's the joke. I'm talking about the most privilaged group there is, outside aristocracy and other rich people, who however, complain about how political correcness is keeping them down, and how they're "not racist, but..." etc.

Ooohhh, yeah, sarcasm doesn't go across well on-line and is especially hard to pick up early in the morning. They are somewhat oppressed a little, I will admit, but not to the degree they love to flaunt about. Like, okay, it's a little "politically correct" to start messing around with nursery rhymes and terms just because they may be seemed a little offensive (brain-storm being altered into spider diagram probably hails as the most pathetic stab, but even "ba ba black sheep" being changed into "ba ba rainbow sheep" is just stupid as hell), but when you outright tell people what a Paki bastard they are as an insult then you could be stepping into an extremely grey area.

I was talking about political correctness with someone I know recently (who supports the BNP by the way) and was going on how the racist card has been used way too extensively. When you insult someone, you sometimes use a random piece of information like a southerner might call a northerner a "northern bastard". It could be off-hand insult or as a joke. However, people start getting emotional when you mention their alternative skin colour or racial difference.

To a degree, I agree with the logic and the problem that's really there is intent. Does the person intend to use words like fag as an offensive word because he/she hates gay people or does he/she plan to just use it because it's something just different about them.

I hate it when people use the excuse of "well, you're just being a PC nazi" to get away with saying bigoted and offensive things in a context where they really shouldn't be.

I made a post in a thread and in that post, I made a comment about how the OP kept referring to a kid as "the Muslim kid" even though neither Islam or the fact that the kid was Muslim was relevant to story in any way. I said, "Why does it matter that the kid is Muslim?" (this wasn't the entirety of the post. In fact, it was just one little part). So, I check back up on the thread to see if anyone replied to me, and sure enough, someone replied telling me that "you don't have to point out every politically incorrect thing you see" like constantly referring to someone by their religion when it's completely irrelevant and unnecessary is acceptable.

I explained in a reply that I was just wondering why the OP included that in his post (a cop-out, I know, but I didn't want to start an off topic flamewar), and the user replied saying that it was due to "ethnic tension." Hypocritically, the way I see it, "ethnic tension" is just a politically correct way of saying "prejudice" or "xenophobia."

I don't agree with censorship to a pretty good extent, but there's a difference between being a "political correctness nazi" and wanting to see people treating each other with respect. If it was a thread that was created just to joke around, then whatever, but this was a serious discussion. I don't mind and am not offended by politically incorrect humor, but when it comes to discussion something serious, I expect that those that are a part of the debate be mature and respectful.

Editing those things is just, like you said, ridiculous. No one connects "brainstorm" with any sort of medical condition. It's just an expression.

I was talking about political correctness with someone I know recently (who supports the BNP by the way) and was going on how the racist card has been used way too extensively. However, people start getting emotional when you mention their alternative skin colour or racial difference.

I think people are afraid to have the racist card pulled on them. I don't believe that race should be pulled into any argument that isn't directly talking about a race-related issue. For instance, if you're talking about whether or not we should have well-fare, don't accuse someone of just wanting to "hold down the black man" just because the working class consists of a good number of black people. That's irrelevant. But, if you're talking about why the poor are poor, then you can bring in race.

To a degree, I agree with the logic and the problem that's really there is intent. Does the person intend to use words like fag as an offensive word because he/she hates gay people or does he/she plan to just use it because it's something just different about them.

The way I see it, it's about intent. If you're using "fag" to joke around with friends that you know aren't bothered by it, then I don't really have a problem with that. It's when you start using it as a genuine insult (not a joking insult) that it gets to be an issue.

The problem is though, people can't check what your true intent was. Of course people are going to say their intent at a racist or homophobic is purely a comical one. Like, they were just joking about how black people deserve to all die. So, people usually jump to conclusions and think the worse when you say a comment that may be viewed controversial. A classic example is that girl who was in here a few weeks back that called me a Nazi for thinking Hitler's reign was somewhat of a good thing due to the economic mess over there (which may of claimed more lives that the holocaust if it was left to rampant free). People are just too scared of the racist or homophobic card being pulled on them that they'll never full out admit they are racist or homophobic (e.g. apparently my ex is only homophobic when her boyfriend is gay (she also gets homophobic around bisexual boyfriends, but she didn't care to mention that, honestly that conversation was just awe-inspiring)) just because of the stigmas to the terms. If you are racist or homophobic, just say it. Honestly, I'd rather know someone who admits they're full out homophobic than someone who denies it completely.

So i came out to my mom and brother last night. We were eating at a restaurant and i ended up admitting it to them. They were really surprised (I would say shocked) but they weren't mad. So I suppose it wasn't a great reaction, but it was normal, much better than it could've been. So much of the dinner was unnecessarily spent talking about it.

Then a life-changing moment happened.

We were at the restaurant for a while, and it was closing (there weren't that many people there anyway). We must have been talking about it really loudly, because right before we left, a woman walked by quickly and said "It's nice to see kind-hearted families," as she was exiting the restaurant. Then i realized she left a handwritten note in front of my mom (who was sitting across from me). This is EXACTLY what the note said:

"I tried to kill myself 2x when i was a teen because my mom would not except me. We never spoke again after I came out. You seem like a a great mom - just be there for him. He is very strong for talking to you: LET THIS BE A GOOD THING IF HE IS GAY.

I live in the one of the gayest states in the union, so when I get older hopefully I'll be able to find some good places to meet people. Right now I'm kind of restricted to school and friends of friends, but I'm planning to go college up by the Boston area. There's a lot of things going on there, and it's close to Ptown.
