I hear you there. It's not so much that we would be fighting over the computer though. She really doesn't like me on newgrounds whatsoever. Oh well.
.... That sounds like she doesn't even really mean it NOW when she says she's fine with you being on NG 4 hours a day in the future, then.

Yeah, she should be cool with it in a few years time - if it means that youv'e gone your separate ways by then. Don't sacrifice a relationship for te benefit of Newgrounds though, that could suck balls.

Unless you just mean SHE doesn't like NG that much. My gf's like that, too. We can't all have gfs like BonusStage, though, so.... eh, just be glad for what you do have in common with her.

Yeah, but I'm going to buy a laptop to go along with the new course that I'm about to enroll on. I'll need this to get the work done on time and enhance my pay cheque :)

That post has nothing to do with the topic of this thread, the thread was off the first page, nobody had posted in it since you last posted... Shit, man, you're going to do stuff like that, go back to General and do it there.

What? AH CHRIST. >:(

Yeah, I have no doubt about that! We will see though. Only an hour or two would be fine with me, but I would hate to stop coming here.

You mean... NGers can't have a normal life? Oh well. Never wanted one, anyway. #;-}>

Ha, I didn't mean that at all, but you do have to admit that some statwhores don't have much of a normal life.

It's only sad if you secretly fear the haters are right and you're wasting your time here.

Never. I love this website and I really don't care what other people think about it.

Otherwise, being on NG at any age is not sad at all.

I hope my son. (I hope I have a son anyway) thinks the same thing and doesn't think his father is a loser for being on a site like this.

Yeah, well sometimes she get's on herself and plays games and what not, but she just doesn't see what I get out of the other aspects of the website like posting. She always says she finds things interesting to read now and then, but wouldn't want to post anything. She thinks reviewing is too much work too.

Ah, but then the decision is easy - you don't sacrifice the relationship, but on the same token, you don't sacrifice your commitment to NG. Sure, you moderate your time on there, but there are bound to be times that you can get on here and do a few bits and pieces :P

See I believe that the addiction to Newgrounds is completely based on your maturity level between reality and the cyber universe. I have found my self lost in the oblivion we call Newgrounds for months. Sitting at my computer playing games, making music, going to NEWGROUNDS and fighting with the forum threads in debates and such.

What I don't understand is WHY. WHY can't I stop? It won't do me any good in my future life... or job for that matter. Sure I can type at like 500 miles an hour but so freaking what? I will need to master in computer sciences or something if I am going to get anywhere in life.

I THINK i do it because i am talking with other nerds who have close to the same problem I have.. they just don't realize it yet. I mean... who else is going to care about some post on some stupid forum on a website called Newgrounds.com than some kid who is about to quote this to continue this thread. The more experience you have on the interwebz before coming to this site, the less chance of you becoming addicted. I know an average Youtuber would simply leave after losing all credibility in a matter of minutes in these forums. And then say this site has retarded people, or something like that. I've seen it happen before.

I usually frequent the VG and collaboration Forums. If you find me anywhere else, I'm lost and can't find my way back.

Yeah I know what you mean. Usually when someone becomes addicted to the internet, he becomes addicted to the first big internet website he has been to. In the youtubers case, Youtube.com. I joined Youtube and tried making some movies... but it just didnt seem like Newgrounds to me.

Because Youtube has way less arguing and "go suck my f'n cock", the youtuber couldnt handle Newgrounds.

I think whatever site you become addicted to first, its the site you stay on because of its own specific enviroment. (Unless it is some small group clan cause everyone knows they dont last long at all.. Except for those damn myspacers *shiver*)

Here is my list of possible addictions online.

Freewebs.com clans.

Facebook.com

Myspace.com

Posting cheats and stragety guides for games on gamewinners.com or some other major video game website.

Writing reviews on Misc. things on a major review website.

Getting addicted to an online totalitaristic community. (Newgrounds.com)

I could go on FOREVER but I think you get the idea. Well time for bed.

No. Youtube has more arguing, it's just arguing over much more unneccesary topics, and the people arguing are just pathetic. Youtube, doesn't have the same perverted humor you might find here, in fact half of that humor on Youtube, is the movies taken from this site and put on there.

The common Youtuber could not handle Newgrounds, because they think much less about topics (although they often take the words of somebody smarter than them), they decide to cuss out anybody who disagrees with them (with the exception of people who make videos explaining something different), and they talk way too much about their personal lives. If I walked into these forums and told a story about something that happened that wasn't special at all, I would get my cyber-ass kicked.

Not exactly. I came to the Internet at the start of September 2007, and immediately went to the one place that I actually knew where it was: YouTube. I spent more than a month there watching mainly Zelda-related videos (you expected anything else from me?), just hanging out, until while searching for Zelda hentai one night on Google I ended up on NG. A few days or weeks later I came back to NG and signed up, haven't looked back since. Oh, sure I've been to YouTube since then, even submitting something when the Scientology raids were starting, but it's not the focus of my Internet use.

In the youtubers case, Youtube.com. I joined Youtube and tried making some movies... but it just didnt seem like Newgrounds to me.

Because YouTube sucks so hard. You almost have to just watch what

Because Youtube has way less arguing and "go suck my f'n cock", the youtuber couldnt handle Newgrounds.

It's just a different type of arguing. Also the majority of what YouTubers find funny, a lot of people like me would find idiotic and pointless, while the things I find funny (showing a 12-year-old Tubgirl for the first time, or sometimes racial stereotypes) would offend the average YouTuber. NG's sense of humor is different from either: cock jokes and video game humor, and random needless swearing, and 4chan memes used out of context (especially barrel rolls and "Shoop da Whoop").

Well yeah... I mean the first website you get ADDICTED TO. If you switch to another site, you arent addicted to the other website. It just never works that way... for me anyway. Addiction means you are on there a lot every day for 5 months straight. I remember the good old days when I was on youtube watching stuff like THIS.

Seriously click that link lol.

It's just a different type of arguing.

Exactly my point. There are multiple forum thread environments. It takes a while to get use to them.

This proves that you have spent insufficient time on either sites.

YouTube has shown me the worst and abusive users I've seen so far. What they call "YTers" are extremely sensitive, aggressive and ignorant. The NG BBS has a controlled community.

I agree YouTube is weaker because of the spamming, on the videos. It makes me made when people spam chain letters ,or porn sites. If you did this on Newgrounds ,you be punished and rightely so. All you can do is press negative comments, not report the abuse. What i love is that Newgrounds has mods and rules ,okay that sounds siily. What i mean is YouTube does not have rules ,about stolen movies i think. Also if something removed you dont know why. One major flaw no BBs you cant post expect ,on the videos comments. It so annoying to find a account suspended. Sorry i love Newgrounds for the BBS level up etc everything ,Hentai no porn on YouTube.

Well no. This is more of a conversation discussing a topic. I meant the other threads here. A huge portion of them contain some kids arguing over whatever.

Exactly. I am very impressed with most of the mods work in controllability. My friend once made a thread that said FREE PORN. And it was deleted 8 seconds later! The mods must have shifts or something. There isnt that many of them either. Just about 50. Even so, the threads get away with a lot of stuff now adays... Even some Mods curse a whole bunch like DarkSide. If you click that link, you'll see him say "My cock is more emo than yours". Sure he is kidding and all... but that kinda sent a chill down my spine and probably made a bad influence on the young folks who wondered into the thread. No one cares about the children though cause they shouldnt even be online in the first place.

At 16, eh? QUAD TOOTH REMOVAL. Hope you enjoyed the medications.

I got 2 (the bottom left and bottom right pair) of mine removed the summer I turned 18 (1995), and the same week my 14-year old sister got all 4 of hers out. My upper ones were fine according to the dentist, and sure enough... now I'm 31 and still no problems. My sister's mouth was still small at that age and the dentist was worried about both her top pair and bottom pair as her jaw bones grew... so they took 'em all out of her mouth at the time. She got all face-puffy for a week after, and had to be on tons of medications, whereas I was just loopy for half a day after the surgery myself.

But alas, my gf (27) never had any of her wisdom teeth removed when she was younger, and now she has 1 infected wisdom tooth that's gonna have to be taken out later this month.

On the plus side, she just got prescribed 4x/day antibiotics (bleh) + vicodin (OMG, Dr. House's preferred drug of choice FTW!) at the minor emergency climic today.

WHAT AN ADVENTURE.

Hobbies are for fun, relaxation, staying sane, and killing time (and sometimes money).

NG is a free (money) hobby that only takes as much time as you LET IT TAKE. It's harmless compared to many other hobbies (such as drugs, for instance... or motorcycle racing... or taxidermy!) that have far greater and wide-ranging costs... and risks attached.

There's nothing wrong with being on 10 sites at once and spending only a little bit of time at each. You sure have some rigid and weird definitions of what it is to be an Internet User, dude.

I realise that it's FKwaJP who's talking like he's the expert on net addiction, not you, and that you went on to explain how even though you started on Youtube but that doesn't mean you're addicted to it today... but... quick question: if you've only been on the internet for 11 months... how is that good evidence to support either FKwaJP's viewpoint or the opposing viewpoint? It's too short a sample size to draw any real conclusions from.

Wait 5 years, look back, and then you'll have a more full understanding of your own net experience. The same is true for just about anything long term. You can't (usually) judge it after 11 months.

"OMG, THIS BABY IS DRIVING ME CRAZY."
Voice of Reason: "How old is he?"
"HE'S 11 MONTHS OLD. THIS IS INSANE. I CAN'T DO THIS FOR 17 MORE YEARS."
Voice of Reason: "Well, you know... it isn't going to be the exact same thing as the past 11 months repeated over and over again from here on out... the experience will change. It might get better in some ways, worse in others... it might be apples and oranges... but it will change."
"OH REALLY? WOW."

It just never works that way... for me anyway. Addiction means you are on there a lot every day for 5 months straight. I remember the good old days when I was on youtube watching stuff like THIS.

"You can't be addicted to more than one site at a time! It just doesn't work that way."

... What?

I browsed through all these pages and you guys bring up some good points.

Now personally, I'm addicted to Newgrounds because I feel like I know it, it's hard to describe. Like I used to really like playing video games, but now I don't because when I get one it takes a while to learn it and than once you do you get bored of it and move on to the next game.

Here, all the stats stay with you forever. It's weird, like some of my friends poke fun at me because I go on this site so much and I just tell them to fuck off.

I like it here :)
