all land vertebrates have 2 pairs of members, "arms" and "legs", the front legs always have an elbow that bends forward like us, and knees that bend backwards.

No, the front legs just have longer bones from the shoulder to the elbow and smaller feet. They're still quadrupeds, but their hind legs have a different bone structure. Saying they aren't really legs because they're different is like saying a shirt isn't a shirt if it's not blue.
