That would be hilariously epic.
And thanks for suggesting me guys, but i think ashman is right, and it should probably be someone bumped from art mod to forum mod.

Also, I don't think my artwork is at a mod-worthy level

Lol.

We'll have to see what gets decided.

Having good art isn't what makes someone a good forum mod. You probably all know what it does take. I think we all can appreciate what ReNaeNae did around here and no one is going to fill those shoes exactly the same way.

I haven't actually drawn anything really good, nor do I actually sketch or anything, but I would like to get into drawing cause I think it's a lot of fun and it build creativity. Does anyone know what a good way to start drawing would be? I do have Photoshop CS3, and if I do get really into drawing, I'll contemplate on getting a sketch book to doodle in. I've always admired people who draw, yet I could never grasp it, but I want to start it.

Touching a marking instument of some type to a black expanse of some sort is always a good way to start.

get a really cheap sketchbook big or small doesnt matter just practise drawing until you think your good, invest in a tablet if youv got photoshop and just practise drawing on there, really its up to you but you need to practise, to start study what you want to draw, how you want to draw, references and inspiration are everywhere

UnknownFear - Saying "I want to learn drawing" is kinda vague. Dare to elaborate?

Thanks for the suggestion, I will certainly get a cheap sketchbook to start.

I don't know, I've taken an art class and seen many things that people have made, both on sketch and computer, and I've always had a small interest in it I guess, but I'm no good.

basically you want to draw but you dont have the talent, therefore you need to develop the skill, drawing websites, references , tutorials look them up

Even Michaelangelo's great works have been quite controversial depending on the tastes of the day (one pope had clothes painted on the figures in the Sistine Chapel). It's up to the viewer to decide what they are willing to accept as art, imo.

Yes, there's no clear description, but what is your standpoint on the matter?

Idk, really. On some level people claim all sorts of shit as artistic expression and that's their right. I think something that in INTENDED to arouse sexually and be used in a sexual way should be considered porn but that doesn't mean it isn't also art as well. It's all in the intention, I guess, and the intention of someone else is something that's really difficult to gauge.

There is no reason that art can not be pornographic and no reason porn can not be artistic. I think hand drawn pin-ups and hentai are clearly artistic endevors but are also pornographic in nature.

My conclusion, then, is that porn and art are not two mutually exclusive things.

If there is a job somewhere deciding what is art and what is porn, I'd be terrible at it. =]

I don't think they'd need another art portal mod at the moment, they have a fair number at the moment. If need be, they'll appoint another, but for now, we have to wait and see how this mod business is sorted out.

How come whenever a mod gets demodded, people feel like there needs to be a replacement.

Is there like some golden number of moderators and loosing one upsets the balance and will cause chaos and the downfall of Newgrounds?

I find it extra ironic considering that normally when a mod steps down its because they feel that they were no longer doing anything as mods. So if they werent doing anything, why replace them? If the other mods managed without them being active, why replace them.

When new mods are needed, new mods are made, NOT AS REPLACEMENTS.

Wow, what a deep insight in the workings of moderatorship.... Clearly this one deserves to replace renae!
ORNERY FOR MOD! ORNERY FOR MOD! SPREAD THE WORD, ORNERY FOR MOD

just kidding,

I agree with ornery kids, if a new mod is deemed necesarry he/she will be appointed. If you want to thank someone for being a good lawfull art forum regular, do that here!

I, for the most part agree with Ornery. However, it is nice to hear suggestions on who you guys think would make good forum mods. If/when we need a new forum mod to help out around here the most qualified person will be asked to do it.

The Art Forum has been pretty slow lately, and I'm sure you've all noticed any gaps being filled by other mods or staff when the need arises. So it isn't like things are going to pot without ReNaeNae.

Still, I believe she was a positive influence on the community and will continue to be as a regular user.

from what i have gathered... and my knowledge of the art fourm... portal... and users n mods... there is already enough users online to stop problems happing... there has been times when a thread should have been locked but no mods have been around to lock it... but normaly within the hour someone comes along and gives them a slap on the wrists and locks it away... the art portals having a few problems but nothing major that cant be sorted out with the handfull of mods on it... untill there is spam threads running riot in the fourms and the art portal clogged with carpet pictures and photos... theres nothing to worry about... it is a shame that she wanted to drop modship... but if people wish to do so there shouldnt be a rush of people waiting to take her place... mods are here to sort out the mess we make... and if everything is clean without that extra person... then theres no need getting another one... thats just my thoughts...

art mods... your doing a GREAT job!
