My flashes on youtube? 2007-03-10 18:15:28

Should Youtube really allow flash animations in their site? In my opinion ,Youtube was meant to be a site for "Videos", but almost anything can be posted there nowadays.

The reason I started this topic is because I'm noticing a lot of people converting my flashes to video (like Four Swords Misadventures and MK Mishaps) and posting them without even asking my permission to do so. Most NG users(or users from other flash sites) don't even realize that I too have a Youtube account (hitthefloor729). It sometimes bugs me that some users post my flashes and take credit for something they didn't make.

Am I the only one having this problem or are other flash authors going through the same crap? I know youtube helps bring a new audience to an author's creation, but it just doesn't seem fair to me when other people post my flashes on youtube or myspace without asking me.

Ignore it, if getting praise from 12 year old black trendwhores makes them happy, let them have it.

Now that is not cool. Your works of art should not be ripped off like that. And I do mean that - your works of art. I fiven your those works when I get the chance - they are that good.

Take action and take back what is yours.

I remember seeing one of the movie "Smile." Worst part is is that it didn't even have the song used in his flash cause his recorder couldn't capture the audio, so he just put in a crappier one. Then he acts like he made it...

You can contact YouTube to delete those videos since they are yours.

Take it up with YouTube. They tend to be really good about removing stolen content.

Think you're pretty clever...

Take action, huh? If only it was that easy...
Even if I attempt to get rid of one video posted by a user, other ignorant noobs will keep insisting in posting it again. The damn thing is inevitable!

Yeah, I've seen several of mine on Youtube (w/o permission) as well. Most of the time they credit (or at least, try to credit) me, and other times they'll slice out the credits section. It doesn't bother me too much - they aren't making money off of it or anything, and usually people will recognize it from NG or a different flash site. The additional exposure is alright, but like you said, Youtube should be a place for videos, and videos only.

Find a mountain to stand on.

I guess, IMO, Youtube has now turned into a public version of eBaum's World. It's sad when people can make their own original stuff these days...
