heres COW 41.
Something about his legs doesn't look right... but I like the texturing XD
Thanks a bunch, fetusdoctor! I tried to give this one a bit more contrast, I definitely see what you mean with the character really standing out in the picture, even though its not tough to decipher from my usually under par backgrounds.
This was COW 41, one of my best yet I like to think.
Here is me and Havayosunu's entry for Doubles Showdown 1!

Heres my WIP of the Chief..
TO BE HONEST, THE COLORING ON THE SWORD LOOKS A BIT WE-EARED
wierd.
And here is the slightly updated and finished version.
You're quite good and have really improved over time, keep em coming!

Thank you! It has almost been a year since I first began making digital art, and I feel as though I have accomplished so much since I began!
Heres another WIP of my COW 45, "In the way creature"
Yahoo! Im finally learning some Maya in school! I got distracted from creating a building, and took one part of my dome roof and multiplied it in crazy fashions. Enjoy.
Maby you should make the sword a little smaller, and instead add more details to it?
you shouldn't add more detail to one part of a picture, it makes the rest of it look bad

Seconded. I tried to add more to the rest of the body as well.
Ahh heres a concept image of a game box for my video game development class.
Its a fighting game with the greek gods.
all this schoolwork made me miss COW 50, but ill get to it over break.

(Or as we say in Bristol) ITS GURT!!
Thanks Gothclawz. Im not familiar with Bristol speak, but I take it as a compliment!
So this semester was my first class using Maya, and I feel like I did pretty well.
Heres my self portrat.
And heres a little temple I whipped up!
Sorry for the quality, I had to reduce it to 65% :(
CHOW 17
I still may work on it a bit, there are some things I would like to change
Comments and crits pretty please! I'm all alone in this thread :(

It looks good, but if I might add one suggestion, seeing as it's basically made of metal, you might want to add more highlights and.. I dunno... metalic looks? Haha... yeah.

Well then make the COW 50 voting thread XD

True, I can't seem to grasp how to make it too shiny yet, I'm getting there though!

Wow, you are right, I never did get around to doing that :( Ill jump on it

it all has to do with the speculars.
he explains it alot.
its also the reason that 3d face looks like plastic.

WOW, sick tutorial site! Thanks a bunch! I read over a few of the topics already, and it seems like it will be very valuable in learning to color properly. As for the 3-D face, I know its all shiny, it was because I used a Phong texture material instead of a Lambert. Unsure of why my teacher told us to do so, but it was pretty funny seeing the classes faces look like toys haha. I'm pretty much done with 3-D until next year when I start animation, so I will keep practicing the digital painting.
WIP of CHOW 18
The coloring tips on that site really seemed to help alot! I feel like I am improving bit by bit.
Well, haven't been around here in a while, and I have a bit of stuff to show.
Here is a character I am developing for my 2-D animation class, so expect to see him walking, running, or blasting aliens or something!
Heres a little landscape I did, but it could definitely still use some work. :/

the perspective on that is really wierd
whoa
your maya stuff looks badass though

-That's what my class told me as well. Its all because of that back mountain, you should be able to see the top of it a bit, but I doubt I will go back and fix it.

-Thank you good sir, I'm hoping to get much better by the end of next year's animation class!
Any fans of Battlestar Galactica? Used many references for this, took some time.

That looks really good, but it would look a lot better without the spiral galaxy or the box showing the guy's face. The composition of the piece would benefit by removing both of those, too.
Other than that, it's very detailed and technically, it's a well-drawn piece.
Looking through your art, I can see that you're very good at drawing some things, but other things you either have no practice with or tend to skip over or rush because you know you're not very good with them.
