Thankya sir. I also keep the start menu on auto-hide so it's usually just a nice image and nothin else unless I'm using it :u And i got these multimedia buttons on the keyboard so i can adjust my music without it bein on the screen. heck yeah
I remember first figuring out how to hide the recycle bin from my desktop on WinXP back in the day for this kinda thing.

Yeah I liked clean desktops pretty early on. Here's mine now,
The bar is hidden by default. I had it set up before to be on my second monitor because I simply don't use it except to check the time and for updates.
I'm using Cairo as the desktop environment which runs on top of window's default desktop environment, a custom theme developed by niivu, a custom font which isn't always respected by windows. I'm not using a custom file manager and windows is debloated.

Does that replace Windows's desktop environment or does it run on top? How's your RAM and CPU usage when using Cairo? Is it heavier than the default or does it lighten things up? I've never used anything like this on Windows before. I don't use Windows, typically.

according to task manager, cario uses about 25-32mb of memory and 0.1-.7% of my cpu. To reiterate, yes it runs on top of windows explorer, it's impossible to replace windows explorer in it's entirity due to the locked down nature of the system. What's there on first install of windows is what you get and microsoft wants to make sure everyone has the same experience.

I guess that makes sense. What I'm curious about, though, is whether it uses less system resources overall compared to the default experience. Does hiding all the Windows garbage save you any memory usage?

I've gone back and fourth to test it and I can conclude that hiding explorer does not reduce it's memory usage. I have enough memory to not notice but it is a thing to consider.
You cant compete with this (ive had it for 6 months)
Recently moved to Linux Mint (best OS btw) with a new background n stuff. Not much has changed apart from the background but whatever
I would've put the cover of Spirit Phone as my wallpaper considering that it's my favorite album of all time but Nature Tapes' album cover works better as a background image.

That it does indeed. Like, it sure is fun to go all the way back to the first page or something and see the evolution of desktops and the internet right before our very eyes! if that isn't worthy of being kept in a museum, I don't know what is. The fact that this probably is the longest-running active forum thread of all time helps.

I particularly like the 2008-2010 era. Lots of bland-looking XP and VISTA desktops, but customization of stuff was also getting big at this time, and the creative ones really stick out. They look silly by today's standards of simplicity, but they have a charm I really adore.
