I don't think he was a direct son of God (If he ever existed and if God exists).
He may have been thinking god sent him, like dr_Natch_Kilder said before me, but I don't know if it is all true!
The bible is a book some people wrote a long time ago, but I don't know if it is true what it says.
To be honest, I think it is not true and no God exists like the bible says: A man in the sky, which has megic powers and stuff. I don't think so.

The bible says Jesus was "the Son of God", but it also mentions the "Holy Trinity", being Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit(Ghost).
Supposedly they are all one, and they are three.
It's something written to confuse. It isn't supposed to make sense, because many people would think that "oh, we can't understand it because only God can" or something like that.
It simply doesn't make sense. Crap.

I don't mean that the whole bible is crap, because I beleive that there is a hidden truth in it.
well one who practized zen/leaping kung could walk on water very easily. to stop someone from saying "Why dont they go on the news and get a million dollars then??", those kinds of people prefer peace and self-awareness, they're quieter people. i'm going to take up leaping kung when this snow clears up.

Jesus was the leader of a pacifist cult. Which has lasted 2000 years and is very very different then the one he created.
Or you could assume the bible is actually true (not likely), in that case he'd be the actual son of god, or god in human form, whatever version you prefer.
Well, Jesus couldn't have been the son of god if god doesn't exist. And if god does exist, does Jesus exist? As a matter of fact, does anyone know some good evidence of the existence of Jesus? By the way, the entire story of Jesus being a son of god was started because of a misunderstanding between some people. The word "virgin" has a different meaning in Greek and Latin, in Greek it means beautiful woman and in Latin it means the same as in English. How could a virgin get a child? It must be a son of God!
Jesus, as Jesus itself, existed.
There a few good historians that report his existence. One was a Jew historian which said that at the beginings of his century (he wrote this around 100 aC) a man lived invented a new religion and had a large group of followers. There a few more Roman historians who say that it's very probable that Jesus existed and recently it has been found a gravestone where you can read something like( translation ) : "Here lies the brother of Jesus" and it's dated form +/-60 aC.

Not according to the bible. And don't forget Jesus wasn't such an uncommon nameback then. If Jesus did exist, and that was his real name, there is no reason to believe it couldn't have been his brother. Unless if you take the bible as a 99% reliable source (hahahahaha). But that doesn't mean it necesserally IS his brother. Didn't have anything more on it that would make it more/less probable to be the brother of Jesus?

Jesus never claimed to be the son of God. One of the disciples claimed that Jesus was. Jesus was just some guy with ideas and followers. Personally, I think that if he was around to see the outcome of his actions today, with all of the commercialism and such that surrounds Christianity (see: WWJD paraphenalia) with his name emblazoned on all of the merchandising, which goes against his teachings and such, he might have something to say on the subject that wouldnt be too forgiving.
