Barracks Roster as of April 1st, 2019:

Well, thanks to the lovely April Fool's prank, I was a little delayed in getting the roster posted. Had to hack the source code to figure out the right answers, and even still, seemed to take a few tries for the cookie to catch. Sad part is that the thought police over in Europe could really do this, selectively blocking content based on what they feel is inappropriate or anti-social. Personally, that is a bit of an overreach of power, and I hope it never happens.

Anyway, back to the matters at hand. First, congrats to newly-promoted General @Peregrinus! Not only did he crack 23.5K, he's been very busy in the portal and in the forum. Well done, soldier! *Salutes*

EGSC @Guthrie and EGSC @Big-Boss continue to lead by example, handling all types of questions, dealing with countless crappy submissions, and still finding time to get some decent points for the month. They keep setting the bar - and then exceed it. Outstanding! *Salutes*

And for those of you who don't remember Lt. General @Lizzardis , he's back and busier than ever. I had the honor to serve with him years ago, when EGSC @EagleRock was CBO. As with many of the old members, real life took priority (as it should) and he was granted an extended leave of absence. We are so very fortunate that he has made time for us again, and is not only fully reinstated, but as busy as he was before. Welcome back, old friend! *Salutes*

I expect we'd still have a function for reporting submissions, but no more statwhoring. It'll be interesting to see what comes up as a replacement.

I'll wait until the replacement is revealed before sounding the death knell, but this is likely to severely impact how I use the site and my investment in NG might just drop off entirely.

I gotta say I would miss my blam rifle, but if this change improves the function of the portal I'm all for it. I have faith that Tom knows what's best for the site and I'm sure the EGB will adapt accordingly to any of these coming changes.

I think adding more depth to the voting process, as well as tying in voting power and accuracy, would help bring balance to the votes, keep people interested - and not reward bots, trolls and special interest groups.

Don't ditch those rifles yet, soldiers! Nothing changes until it does - if it does. In the meantime, we got a job to do, and we'll keep doing it well!

As per the new rules (yes, we have new rules) for live action content, I need to ask about this submission. It is heavily altered by effects and has a dragon in it, but it's acted in live action. I do think it qualifies as a skit, even if it was a bit... surreal, it still had a lot of effort put into it and legit comedy. I think it should stay. Now remember guys, no mkre shadow-modding of live-action :P

That looks good to me, except the video quality. I don't know how flexible that rule is, but I guess it goes for stuff with no effects and content quality. Something that is worse than this lovely gem (in terms of legit production value and some animation component.):

Lol it seems I have made myself a not-so-powerful enemy. Some guy whose 0-effort stuff I've been blamming and giving actual advice for made a piece of audio called "Haters" and removed it. I don't know what it was about, but he said something in one of the descriptions of his movies about people wanting plot and him making a movie without a plot because of that and "what are you gonna do about it? Punch me in the face through the screen?" I've actually never had this happen to me before.

Out of the current members, I bet not too many of them. Heck, we didn't even own a computer until 2004. I was 15 years old before I realized you could have a computer outside of a school or business.

I can still hear the dial up sounds as I snuck down to our computer to use ask jeeves to look up pokemon information, play on neopets, and watch flashes on newgrounds. I remember using every second of an hour to be able to vote on 5 submissions a day because just to load them took that long.

I think I was 14 when I made my account but I had been visiting the site since around 10 years old.

Oh god I'm having vivid flashbacks of doing these exact things. The day my dad got an ISDN connection for our computer in 2002 made a huge impact on load times for NG.

I think that was the case with me as well. I remember playing old games on newgrounds back around the time when we would play on websites like killfrog, joe cartoon, and jokefrog at school, but I think it wasn't until a few years later around age 14 that I opened a forums account. It was a funny time. I remember you could post for a couple months and get up into the top 50 posters. I did it in a summer because the attention sounded cool. I was one statwhoring little kid lol. I ended up cracking into the top 50 posters with like 2,000 posts. Now there's probably hundreds of people with higher post counts than me. It's insane how far this place has come.
