The success of the top clubs is actually killing off the competition.

Exactly!

I thought it was sad to see last Tuesday that my favorite club, Ajax, got wiped off the pitch by Real Madrid (3-0). Ajax used to be amongst the best clubs in Europe, but they just can't compete with clubs like Chelsea and Real Madrid anymore.
Yeah, I feel the same about Aston Villa - we won lots of competitions in the early 80s, but now we're lucky if we can finish mid table.

Yes, isn't Aston Villa usually a bit of a middle-ranker in the English premier league?

Luckily Ajax is still doing well in the Dutch first division. Last year they finally got their 3rd star which fans have been waiting for for 7 years.

Though I guess the fact that our champion lost so badly to Real Madrid says a lot about the level of the Dutch football clubs.

I don't suppose your family would want any drama during the wedding either, so perhaps it'll be for the best to steer clear anyway.
Mum said she doesn't care what I do, but it's not hard to see she's lying. My brother's baby machine had her third kid yesterday (his second) and I'd just rather ignore the situation. They get praise and attention for being reckless. Well, I've still got a life and if they've ruined theirs, then that's fine by me. I'll meet the kid before he's 8 weeks old, when I met their second - it's not harmed relations with my nieces, so why should it harm relations with my Nephew?

FFXIV was the biggest bomb of 2010. I think that says something for Square but no, they insist on an MMO not for Final Fantasy but for Dragon Quest. Maybe it will work better for that franchise but it's still too risky for them.

Yeah this might not be such a good idea. On the other hand though, perhaps it is good that they are at least trying something else with the series?

Why can't they just do a huge throwback to the classic games? Just go back to simple turn-based combat, simple ability learning systems and a classic FF story.
To be fair, I do like the fast pace action in FFXIII. The flexibility of the moves does make the engines feel free from dust. Not saying the previous battle systems were bad, though but this feels a lot faster.

Hmm... well I guess that's nice, but the battles looked a bit chaotic (from what I've seen from Gameplay videos).

Well... can't do this in a politically correct, democratic way then.
We won for one update.

YEAH!

Yeah that was just weird. From what I heard the normal monsters could all be one-hit KO'd with even the most simple attacks when you were able to hit for 99999 damage.
Yep, that's the strengths you can go to in FFX. FFXII had multiple hits within a single move but FFXIII does both. Well, the limit might exceed 99999 HP damage but the most I've seen taken off with a single attack is 50k HP.

Lol.

You know I'm playing FF9 again right now and I actually love how it is so hard to do high amounts of damage. I mean, if you hit for 3000 in this game, that's already a lot. And the guy with the most HP only has 80,000 HP which isn't even the final boss.

I guess they wanted a change from 1,000,000+ HP bosses they had in FFVII and FFVIII.

Last game, no one scored. Pity. :(
But at least Bayern didn't concede a goal as well, so that's 8 games in a row (or maybe even 9?) where they didn't concede a goal! Amazing.
Manuel Neuer has to be the player with the least ball contacts in the whole Bundesliga.

Oh yeah I saw that on the news this week. Amazing that they won 10 matches in a row and still haven't lost a game. Also, it's apparently 11 matches without a goal against.

Indeed, Neuer doesn't have an awful lot to do then. Great goalie by the way, I thought he was the best goalie of the WC.

It's all the medias fault!
Of course!

And the coorporations!

Erm... some flame retardant goo-y stuff then.
How fitting. If the zombie nerds are goo-y than their "blood" should be made out of goo-y stuff as well.

Splendid!

So uh... how are they supposed to move again?

Well done.
Don't put it in your pocket, sir. Don't put it in your pocket. It's your lucky quarter.
Get the fuck out of here.

Put it anywhere not in your pocket. Where it'll get mixed in with the others and become just a coin.

Which it is.

I've played it many times before. Excellent game, despite the lack of option to speed things up. One year takes 75 minutes and a lot of levels generally require you to spend 3 or 4 years game time-wise in order to beat them.

As for Yizamat I could probably beat the dragon thing if I had enough time on my hands, would have to have a perfect gambit setup and then walk away for a couple of hours.

Ugh, fuck the gambit system. It only makes me feel lazy when using it.

There's two versions of events on this - most of the details I'm still not comfortable with, so I keep them off the internet, plus I might write a book about them someday. I'm just sick on mum leaping to the defence of my brother's girlfriend. I hope she does the same for mine, if Phil ever bad mouths her. If I catch him doing that, I'm likely to go nuts.

Yep, you can be evil like that. However, it doesn't help the park ratings at all and most levels rely on having a good park rating.

I don't mind the gambit system.

The gambit system feels like the game is doing all the work for you. I feel FFXIII is at least an improvement since auto-battle could do the unwanted commands. However, you still lack control from the other two party members.

I suppose, still want to buy the game at some point and play. Also what's up with Excalibur II? It's not much better than Excalibur and you have to beat the game in an insane time. D:

I wish I'd ditched French altogether and put more effort into German lessons. Then I could have done Geography instead.

I had to learn a second foreign language (either French or Latin) in lower grades in order to get my A levels. Or else I would've been forced to learn spanich in the upper grades. I was just planning ahead: Learn a second language now and get some more free time in the upper levels.

I also wish I'd spent more time with my selections for A-Levels. I think I'd have ditched Maths and taken English at the very least, possibly something else, other than Physics as well. Still, this is all in the past. I've got the future to think of now and that could be a lot brighter than it was.

Yeah, picking maths as one of my major fields hasn't been a smart move. I ended up with english class and german class as my major fields. But on the other hand, there wasn't anything else I was interested in enough to pick it as my major.

Even better.

Indeed, Neuer doesn't have an awful lot to do then. Great goalie by the way, I thought he was the best goalie of the WC.

He made some easy mistakes in the near past (or at least, he didn't look too good), but I think he will be there when he's needed most.

It's all the medias fault!
Of course!
And the coorporations!

Goes without saying.

Erm... some flame retardant goo-y stuff then.
How fitting. If the zombie nerds are goo-y than their "blood" should be made out of goo-y stuff as well.
Splendid!

So uh... how are they supposed to move again?

We could give them scooters so they can drive around.

Well done.
Don't put it in your pocket, sir. Don't put it in your pocket. It's your lucky quarter.
Get the fuck out of here.
Put it anywhere not in your pocket. Where it'll get mixed in with the others and become just a coin.

If I'd have had the choice and been able to take a second foreign language of my choice, I'd have gone for Italian, alongside German. Both languages that I enjoy the sound of, as you can get really angry in both languages and it sounds like machine gun fire. You know, like Glaswegian.

I ended up with 2 A-Levels, after I failed Maths. I got such low grades, but still managed to get to University, though I only lasted 6 months there. Everything happens for a reason.

Nah. I wasn't expecting us to win this year. Maybe reach the ALCS, but we were just over committed, in the end. It was good that we got to the playoffs on that sort of skeletal staff, but Nova is in a good place for next year. Now to see if Cashman is coming back and if he (or his replacement) can work on building the team up.

Coop's reccommendations:

1) Pitching - We have CC, AJ, Nova and Hughes. 5th Starter is worth looking into. Do we bring back Colon or Garcia, or do we let one of the kids have a go at it?
2) DH Now, with Jorge looking like retirement, from the look on his face in the locker room, he's heading for retirement. Do you use Montero / Jones in platoon and keep him as a third (or fourth) catcher?
3) Cather - Martin is secure as the Yanks #1. What about Francisco "concussion" Cervelli? Can he come back? What about Auston Romine, can he be the backup next year? Will Montero fill that position?
4) Bench players - Sure, Eduardo Nunez had a good season filling in for the likes of Jeter and A-Rod, but Ramiro Pena wasn't all that good. Do we trade or buy to see if we can get someone to fill that void, when needed?

"Not so fast, Nixon! Are you familiar with 'Audio Tape'?"

"The Jig's up, Nixon. We'll trade you the tape for the body."

It's far and away the hardest 10K stat to reach if you try to put forth any degree of quality in your reviews. You're still active in the RRC, right? I kind of miss it. Sadly I don't have the free time necessary to be a real part of things there anymore.

Hooray, it's not laziness for once. I still have the last five posts to take care of but they should be easy to do. After that, it'll be writing up genuine reviews.

Ah, well that's good then. Do you do things other than roller coasters on it? I would probably try to make confusing roller coaster rides that loop and go all over the place, lol.

Well, I build plenty of gentle and thrill rides to keep the small rides going.

The gambit system feels like the game is doing all the work for you. I feel FFXIII is at least an improvement since auto-battle could do the unwanted commands. However, you still lack control from the other two party members.
Ah, yea I agree but it helps keeps things a bit easier rather than having to open up the command menu and keep setting them up new commands every time.

JRPGs shouldn't make you feel lazy. That's my point. :P

Don't even remind me. That only kills the experience of FFIX.
Yes and when you win this shiny sword, remember the time you wasted and that shares the same stats as Excalibur but looks a bit shinier. Also I think that's the only FF game that challenges you to a speed run to get something to I think.

I think that's the only speed run task they've ever done and I hope they never do it again. I'm not going to rush through 12 hours of FFIX just so I can get one particular weapon.

They do have a lot of live albums. I don't have any but I am curious about Live Evil. It's from the Dio era and he sings Ozzy-era Black Sabbath songs. As far as studio albums go, all I need now are Born Again, Seventh Star, Headless Cross and Cross Purposes. Headless Cross is hell to get right now but I check on eBay for fairly good prices every now and again. I should probably push myself to pick one up for £20 since it's going to take forever for them to re-issue the IRS Black Sabbath albums.
