Not all anime is meant to be funny. Anime comes in many different genres for all different audiences. If you want comedy anime, the funniest anime I've seen is probably Golden Boy.

I was actually part of the anime club back in my hjigh school days. Granted I didn't tell any of my friends about it. Anyways, we were watching a movie and this kid walked in. I think he was a Freshman.
Kid - "Hey what is that?"
Us - "-Insert Japanese movie title here-."
Kid - "Oh you guys like that Pokemon shit. You guys are queer."
He turned around and left. We all just stared at each other and had a nice long laugh about it.

Sometimes the artwork is shitty, and if the artwork isn't shitty, then the storyline is, or the rate the storyline progresses...like they'll have a moment where it could all be over right there in then, but the character does something stupid to keep it going another couple of episodes instead of introduce new and original elements...
...that, and sometimes they're just down-right repetitive.

It's very annoying. The animation is (in my opinion) poor and doesn't look good in any way, they always have lame super-ninja plots and it's just generally not entertaining.

Apparently, you are one of those people who have no idea what you're talking about. So shut up. And that goes for all you others out there who think it's all choppy frame rate like DBz and pokemon, both of which are frowned upon by actual anime fans. If you actually get into the good stuff like Akira, Hellsing, Naruto, Samurai Champloo, Gungrave, Ghost in the Shell (Movies) and quite a few others out there, you'll find that these are made by the more talented artists. In fact, we don't get a lot of the good stuff here in the states, we're stuck with all the general run-of-the-mill Dragonball bullshit.
So what I'm trying to say is, Anime is just as varied as any other programming that you might watch. It all depends on who makes it and who it's supposed to appeal to. Quit trying to make biased decisions based on sketchy facts and half truths, because you have no idea what you're talking about.

I HATE ANIME. Its terrible. I don't see why someones eye should take up 1/4 of their face. The mouth, when speaking, shouldn't be the size of a watermelon. The nose is very jacko-esque. Plot ... something that is very lacking in anime. Its just robots and lasers and the occaisonal guko thinging or whatever his race is called. ANIME IS JUST TERRIBLE

So you're saying one episode of an anime show takes less than a few weeks to produce? Can you prove this?
Also, look at most anime. They all have a slower FPS than some American cartoons. The joke "How many Goku's does it take to screw in a light bulb?" with the answer of "One, but it takes 15 episodes." is an example of what I mean. Do you notice how many episodes of anime can be put into one volume of manga?
I admit; anime is well-drawn, but shows tend to drag on with a slow FPS.

i don't like it because all they do is talk when they should be fighting or doing something more important. they do a couple moves and talk forever. that shows laziness on the animator's part, in stead of animating, they take up time talking and just have to move the mouth rather than the whole body.
the drawings are good on some anime, but they don't seem to move much.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say all you've seen is DBZ or DBGT. The good animes have intricate plots and interesting thoughts that can change you.
