I don't think drowning hurts that much but I think it's one of the most horrible ways to die.

Burning and suffocation. Burnings a given, but suffocation would be incredibly painfull. First your lungs would start to hurt, then you would lose energy. Your chest would feel like it was going to explode and because of the lack of energy, you couldn't do anything about it. Peaceful my ass.
