Also, it's unwritten, but I assume those who have their entries under consideration shouldn't vote for their own?

Also, should we take the number of authors into consideration?

Actually that brings up a very good point.

If the animtion is a collab how is the money distributed. Is is cut up amongst the authors, or does each one get $250. Also, for those authors living in other countries, do they get a check for $250 american and then have to change it to their own currency, or do they get it in their own currency, or are they just not eligable (which would suck ass)

This has been asked before. It would be up to them to split it is the current thinking.

The $250 is per entry.

Yeah. If we actually win anything there sure are a few problems.
We are all minors
We are 4 which means 60-65$ for each. Which is still pretty fair actually.
I live in germany. :O

That's really great Tom, now I care so much more about who wins =)
Easy to pic a top 5, but hard to pick which one of them actually is the best >:(

Every vote counts equally right? No voting power or anything?

Response to Top Five February Voting! 2005-03-01 09:58:28

so anyone level 12 or over gets to vote?

Response to Top Five February Voting! 2005-03-01 10:03:01

He he :) That's nice. 2000 voters ? That's much ! Can't wait for the results. And, you know, that wasn't easy to decide, which submission was Best this month.

Try clicking the link Tom provided in the original post and reading it.

My experience ranking is currently 2,158. Oddly enough, I have the link. Maybe it's because there are so many inactive members in the top 2000 so I get to go ahead of them, or something.

That was really fun doing the voting. I feel special now :)

None of those should be problems. I believe they found a way around the problem for minors. Not sure exactly how, but it has something to do with saying the money was 'earned' rather than 'won' I think.

Which is kind of true.

So, here is mine Top 5 of 2005 February.
Tom, it would be very interesting to see the final ranking of all 150 submissions of this month. Not only the Top 5. Will it be possible ? It's always interesting to know, how many voters from 2000 have voted on your submission.

Voting will take place from March 1st through the 4th. The monthly winners will then be announced!

I have created an information page to explain how the panel of judges is selected and how the process works. Please take a look! If you are eligible to vote, cast your votes now!

thats awesome me a judge!!!

i voted on
FF: Mixed in Balamb2(1/3).
»
2. Final Fantasy Day Care 2.

3. Valentine's Day Special.

4. Final Fantasy Day Care 1.
5. -Obsolete-.

this should be a regualr thing for the older and higher ranks to vote monthly or weekly on the best submission

I voted already, I choose

1. Bunnykill 2.

2. -Play-.

3. X-Men:Dark Phoenix Rising.

4. _ULTIMATE TUTORIAL 2_.

5. Sally Can Wait.

And I can only guess that this had something to do with that post about "who are the best authors on Newgrounds" a while ago.

Am I right?

That would be awesome, Tom. Thanks ! You know, this system really motivates me to create and upload flash, because after what I would be curious to know if any voters from all 2000 gave me at least a few votes :)

Well, let us not keep this a secret then.
Even though it's a "democracy vote", it can be kept secret.

Already two people showed their votes, so I might as well show mines.
I hope my screen capture picture won't influence the other judges and it won't make those who weren't chosen sad or anything. It really was a difficult choice, but there has to be a choice in the end. This is just one man's choice (mine).

OMG, we should make a club for the 1337-Panel!

I cant really remember my top 5, I vote based on my memories of the Movie/Game, the part I CAN remember:

1: Magical Trevor 2 (just a 1337 song that stays in my head)
2: forgot
3: Bumpcopter
4: forgot
5: forgot

I feel so stupid :(

2,000 users is a good number. In reality, if you add authors & site moderators you should have a group of about 2,190. If the authors aren't already on the list of active & depositing users. I love this idea. It really controls the way to choose good flash. So many of the top 50 entries are voted on by new site visitors who come & go.

2,200 users is nothing compared to the average number of voters. Too few judges could be asking for trouble. This way you get good results without the drama. Just by looking at the first two choice lists you can see the diverse interests.

I hope judges aren't rewarded with choosing a list that wins. That could lead to group voting's, etc.

Thanks Tom, this rox.

Damn I was disappointed that I didn't get to release anything this month like I promised. Oh well I just hope my friend Blordow (creator of Alex Kid) wins. Anyway, here's my top 5

I'm honoured to be among the users who can cast votes. I think of it as a privilege and I am going to do some meticulous research to make sure I vote for worthy entries.

On a side note, I think it would be better if you allowed more actual artists to vote, who have not necessarily been very active the last month. If you've got one or two daily awards, for example, I think you should be allowed to have your say. And maybe 2000 is a little too many? If it had been fewer I might not have been included, but nonetheless...

Thanks to Tom and Wade and everyone else who made this possible!
