I think I'll do one on loadMovie and loadVars if no one has done those yet.

I'm going to do a loadVars/loadVariables/loadVariablesNum one at some point, but don't let that stop you. If yours and mine end up being too similar (which I doubt they will), I'll paste my shit in yours and delete mine.

Denvish, I want you to delete my GTA thread from the forums. (That is, if you can)

Response to As: Main 2005-06-30 10:53:28

Quick favour to ask of you guys:

Firstly, if you can do a little research on Google for 'associated reading', and bung three or four relevant links at the end of your first post, that would be cool. It's not necessary or compulsory, but it might help people see things from a slightly different angle when they're looking at your code, just in case they're having trouble grasping your approach to the subject.

Secondly, when you add the AS: Main link in your post, link to http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic.php?id=229808&page=9999 - this will take the reader to the last page of this topic, which will obviously be where the most recent lists are. I'm not really too fussed about them reading the first post of the topic, they can always browse to page=1 if they want to.

Thanks

Sorry Denvish, you posted those instructions just as I submitted my topic.

AS: XML

Yay, ;)

XML is more useful and powerful then loadvars no offense ;)

You know what, there should be a thread called like AN: Main. In that thread, it will have animating tips. People can make threads (like this) that are about animation and name it AN: Whatever. Then, people can go to the AN: Main and select what they want. I mean, this is just a suggestion because I think animation is a lot cooler that AS.

Response to As: Main 2005-06-30 13:19:25

uhh.. what animation idea?

Response to As: Main 2005-06-30 13:21:18

Inglor, look back a couple replies and you will see.

Response to As: Main 2005-06-30 13:25:09

1) Animation isn't cooler then coding
2)You can't TEACH everyone animation, it's more of a born gift.
3)

Animation's better taught through tutorials, you need visual aides, you can't write about lip syncing or running in a way that'll tech people to animate it.
You can check these out if you're looking for tips:

My apologies for bringing these up in the AS thread

Yup, I saw that and liked it. It's not a problem that it's not a pure AS thread, there are no strict guidelines...

Well, Denvish, I think AS: Save and Load should be in the advanced section becuase I consider myself good at AS and I really dont even understand save and load.

Can anyone make a AS: 3D and a AS: trigometry?
I think that would help.

Just copy and paste it and pretend you have read and understood the explanations XP

Hmm... AS: 3D, that would be pretty hard. Denvish is like the only one who knows that. Believe it or not, I tried doing 3D by puting a code lile this:

if(Key.isDown(Key.UP)) {
_z +=5;
}

I know, the _z axis doesnt exist but I tried! XD

No,he isn't.I am sure inglor does,Xelius does too,Jafiteman,and many other people

What about this?
onClipEvent(load)
{
z = 5;
}
onClipEvent(enterFrame)
{
if(Key.isDown(Key.UP))
{
this._xscale+=z;
this._yscake+=z;
}
}

But I know there is a better way,this one doesn't work properly.

3D involves simulating a "focal lens" in order to adjust _x and _y accordingly., I know very little about how this works, but the _x+ _y+ method isn't really appropriate. A triganomatry reference would be a good idea, but I think that should be left to one of the more experianced users like Inglor.

How about a AS: RPG? Lol, I don't know, it might be hard to explain a whole RPG in one thread.
