Personally, for some reason that I don't know, I don't know why some places in horror games like Little Nightmares or Resident Evil calm me so much, but one of the ones that I have loved the most in all this time has always been the Valley of Tears in Alice Madness Returns. It is so beautiful, colorful and alive despite the history and events of the game, anyway, why is the third part of that twisted version of Alice in Wonderland not coming out T-T

A lot of what you see in Knytt Stories is like that.

Oh wouldn't YOU like to know?

I used to have a game when I still had my Nintendo DS, called "A horse life" in which you had to raise up a horse, until it was capable of competing professionally. That game had various different game modes to help you make a bond with the horse, and one of these consisted of going out to take a stroll. I remember those environments being so lovely to pass through, maybe it was the reason I grew a love for the country and forest-y environments.

Everything from FEZ, there is simply something about that game and its enviorments and atmosphere that speaks to me.iu_1180102_10300029.webp

The TES games are remarkable for this, but Skyrim in particular excels at creating an excellent ambiance. Walking between two towns and it starts raining? Going on over to the College of Winterhold and taking in the sights? It's been a long time since I played the game but oh man was it the shit when I did.

Apart from that, there's something to be said for the environments of old games. Animal Retreat, Sammy Suricate, Rune, Technomage and a bunch others looked great to just soak in the sights sometimes. Road Rash too, but too bad you'd get stopped by the police if you fell off your bike and tried to run to the finish line instead:

The Land of the Livid Dead and The Fairy Council areas from Rayman 3, if this game ever got a modern upscale/remake it would be gorgeous but even as it stands by GameCube graphics this is still impressive.

Especially these two locations from both areas in particular

I don't know what it is with OFF, but just how it looks relaxes me. Maybe it's just the simple colors that each area has or some of the music in the game, like I find a song like Desperately Safe calming, but I just find the places relaxing.

Well there are multiple on my list but recently, its got to be red dead redemption 1s landscape

I think may open world games are beautiful, there are parts that look like the Scottish highlands in terms of greenery and picturesqueness, In terms of games I've played, A Highland Song has some beautiful scenary.

Don't give two sh*ts about what other people think of you. If you have a high opinion of yourself that's all that matters.

i'm also a huge fan of japanese 90s adv games (particularly stuff like c's ware and eve)

they really gave you a luxurious and romantic feeling even on very limited hardware back then, played a lot of them

Greenpath and Fog Canyon are some of the many beautiful locations in Hollow Knight. God I wish I can jump into the game and explore them close up.

Literally 99% of the Ori games.

The Dreamy Somnom Labyrynth from M&L Dream Team (and Sacred Somnom Woods as well). One of the most beutyful forest settings i have seen in any game. It also has one of the calmest music i have ever heard as well, complementing the coulors in the area. And even if its a labyrinth and you will get lost, you feel like you want to stay in its sheer beauty. Fitting beacouse its in the dream world. and yeah, it may have one of the worst boss fights i have ever fought but it still looks amazing. Its the best forest area in any mario game, no contset.

iu_1190270_14510086.png

I also want to give a shoutout to its non-dreamy counterpart, the Sacred Somnom woods. In the beguinning its nice enough to look at. Nothing special. But deeper in the forest when you see the ruins of whats left of the pi'illo temple, you see how wonderus the ruins are even tho the pi'illo peaople has been long gone. It also has a great hypnotic song as well but less dreamy beacouse its not in the dream world. Even the boss, Pi'illodium looks beautyful even tho its a ruthles and destrucktive defence system that will destroy any intruders
