Hello Newgrounds. This is the dumping grounds for my art and maybe post art tutorials that I like.
Comments and pointers would be appreciated.
For a baseline: here's a boomer comic I made over a year ago.
I find that the poses really lack energy, but there's something else to the form that makes it look awful.
Maybe the lines are too thick?
Inspired by Austin Kleon's How to Steal Like an Artist I made nonsensical comics out of clippings from children's books. I eventually stopped, probably due to lack of interest.
It was all downhill from this one.
This was the last one I made. Last I checked it had a score of -4 on Imgur.
This is my OC: Clyde and my earlier attempts to use watercolor paint.
The idea with him is that he doesn't talk and makes logical mistakes like putting dirty dishes in the washing machine for clothes.
I would eventually dabble in water-based markers.
One way to go about it is to scribble on something that the marker won't soak into and use it very much like watercolor paint. If you're going to do that you might as well use watercolor then.
My imagining of Arcade Bunny from Nintendo's Badge Arcade.
He takes a long time to answer the door and doesn't change the catching machines anymore.
Also he drinks from that carrot a lot.
This was done with water-based markers.
These were inspired by my job and were also made using water-based markers.

FunnyPlush's spike the Mantis, done with water-based marker.
RikardoGafo's Rik and Cheveaux. I find that taking the lines out of vector drawings make them look way better.

Catartist's Bass Kick. Returned to my pixel-art roots for this one.
Calamancyy's "Figher Girl". Not particularly happy with how this one turned out.

I combined SomeDoodles' Mavet the Mosquito with Spectacles1170's Moonbun (that missing segment of her head is just asking for trouble)
I saw Dupreedraws' Hypnotist Cuttlefish and thought of Zoidberg. So I drew him eating the other OC Dupreedraws posted. I didn't add it to the art portal because it didn't turn out particularly well.
When you really think about L1nKUu's OC made of caramel you realize she would have a whole lot of problems related to that. Not the least of which is being a bug magnet. This took me a very long time to make. I used mostly Somedoodle's Mavet and his minions (collectively known as ALO/ Anti Life Organization) but if you look closely you'll see some representatives from pop culture including Barry the Bee from Bee Movie. This took way too long to make.
Frontlined-Backend's tweakachu. There's something about seeing somebody draw your OC that's almost ... addicting.
Finally: Pammeenevaeh's Ladybug. It was quite nice to see someone post a wholesome OC for a change.
I made a few stickers out of it and put one on the monitor I use for work (the edges are jagged, I know).
This might be the last OC I do for the OC Plaza. A number of "unwholesome" OCs regularly find their way onto that thread and it isn't good for my sanity to give them much head space.
If anyone has a wholesome OC feel free to post it in this chat and I'll consider rendering it.
Inspired by the work of Frontlined-Backend. This was in pencil crayon because I inked the lines before coloring, which I don't recommend doing with watercolor.
I've recently taken an interest in sticker-making.

I low-key promised myself a Cricut if I could produce 4 more batches. I don't intend to sell these ones, mind.
Tried painting a liminal space with watercolor.
The ceiling around the lights should be darker and pearlescent paint does not agree with the scanner.
Still,
Earlier I had started a thread asking how others would draw a desert rain frog standing on 2 feet.
Today I painted 3/5 of the desert rain frogs I got around to drawing this week.
The middle one might have have something contagious.
... then spent much of the rest of the day making vector versions in Inkscape.
Usually, my vector art doesn't look good with the lines in, but I'd say this was an exception. The key would seem to be using varying line widths and colors.

Here are the unfinished rejects.
I made another batch of the stickers with the frogs.
From my blog post it looks like people generally have little preference between the water color and vector versions.
Also they have been compared to burnt pimples or burnt marshmallows.
This week I drew some doors. While trying out the wet-on-wet watercolor technique.

I incorporated 2 of the doors into a new batch of stickers.
I spent a good chunk of my Christmas break learning how to use Godot only to give up on it when I couldn't find a C# equivalent for this. I did, however, manage to beat Chuchel.
I gave soaking the tip of the pencil crayon a try. I found that when I did it too long it made it a bit mushy.
