Super Mario World, the grass in 1-1 terrifies me.

I'm personally going through "Endoparasitic" at the moment - slowly, but happily. It's not every day you see an action horror game where you have to play as a one-armed invalid with an internal parasite.

Personally i love all of Rusty lake’s games. I grew up playing their cube escape and I really have enjoyed their paid games as well. My fave is definitely Rusty Lake: Hotel. Perfect horror vibes, pretty simple point and click action. Lovely style.

But if seriously, i'd choose Skyrim on survival mode and legendary difficulty.
And if JUST horror, then... DOOM 3, i guess.

I have definitely played Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion a lot. Maybe even the Slendytubbies trilogy. It was a big part of my childhood.
well my favorite freeware horror game is evil (yep thats the name) because Markiplier and riskrim played it one of the old freeware horror games

Amnisisa: the bunker. I love the theme of it and it's premise it's also hella scary
Of newer, more recent games? Phasmophobia. It's less "scary" and more "tense" to me now, especially with something close to 600 hours playing and streaming it so often, but that's one I really love. Resident Evil 4 Remake seems pretty cool too, albeit I've only had a chance to play the demo
Of older games? There's Cry of Fear, Layers of Fear...I only got into horror in general within like, the last 10 years so unfortunately I never really had a chance to play games like Silent Hill 2 or anything people would probably consider a classic

Some horror games, like Slenderman or Amnesia, punish you for looking at the monsters.
In Fatal Frame, you have to get as close as possible to the ghosts, and wait for a specific cue to snap a photograph. Like, just as the woman with a broken neck is about to bite you. You can't take photos from far away because it does almost nothing.

Some RPG maker horror games make me really scared. Like The Witch’s House. I don’t have the courage to play it based off of the playthroughs I’ve seen, but it’s really brutal if you play it twice.

They Hunger has entirely not enough love out there. A Half-Life 1 total conversion pulp horror mod of considerable effort and length. It could easily be its own game. A must play if you enjoyed the original. With the right lighting, it's the perfect blend of genuinely creepy horror, cheesy dialogue, and a ridiculous amount of old-school spooks and charm. Absolutely perfect for Halloween.

gosh i wish i had the time/backbone/money for more horror games! i still havent played silent hill 2 yet which feels like a crime. you can never go wrong with rpgmaker horror games like mad father, ib, and the witches house, they're definitely creepy, gorey at times even, but the pixel art aesthetic stops them from ever being too scary i find (but thats deffo a personal taste thing). finally uh.....it has trigger warnings out the wazoo so look up a content warning list before hand but fear and hunger is also a good scary rpgmaker game without having a cute aesthetic to soften the blow of its scares

GTFO the game your a prisoner who is sent down into pit where you extract item and others stuff of which I will get into. But it not any other multiplayer game where you quickly rush it no it a horror game where "Must" do it stealthy or risk the consequences of your actions because this game is unforgiving and time consuming and Dark. The monster are fast and relentless so stealth kill if you can or loud and survive. It a play smart or die together type.
