Night on Bald Mountain by Mussorgsky

tries too hard to be edgy and is blocked by many because he acts rude towards others to feel better about himself.

My favorite song by Mussorgsky other than Pictures at an exhibition

Ooh, this is my kind of thread!

One of my favorites to listen to is the New World Symphony by Dvorak - it really has an adventurous and energetic feeling like nothing else!

I also listen to a lot of music that either I’ve played before in ensembles (New World Symphony, Shostakovich 5, Marche Slave), or is well known for the certain vibe it has (Lacrimosa, Hall of the Mountain King, etc).

If you’re interested in opera at all, I’d recommend at least reading a summary of Ruslan and Ludmila - it’s so endearingly weird to me that it immediately gained a special place in my heart.

Also, ya wanna be amazed?

Here’s a remix medley of well-known movements from Pictures, being played by 3D models of instruments, which are programmed to move in response to the MIDI input rather than requiring a human to animate them. This is from the 2000s or so.

Chopin Nocturne NO.20 In C Sharp Minor

Oh #3, Mars!

That one is SO fantastic for dramatic choppy zoom-ins!

Duuuun!!.......dun..dun..duuuun!!.............dun dun dun...duuuuuun!!! (That part also seems to have some weirdly irregular a-rythmic intervalls, wich only makes it sound extra dramatic)

At every dun, quickly zooming in the camera at some dramatic looking face.

And the whole rest of the track is just really fantastic for some approaching army, or meteor strike or whatever approaching danger or doom.

No idea just how old the whole Planet-Suite of Holst is, but it's like an epic cinematic soundtrack, before there was cinema (if I'm not mistaken on the time-periods).

Y’all should take a listen to this old analog synth cover from the late 1970s. It’s really cool. This guy did a lot of covers of classical pieces, and the synth sounds he uses are really evocative.

Isao Tomita - Mars, the Bringer of War

That is cool.

Like a version to fit with something more sci-fi/mystery kinda stuff. Like Dr.Who or the X-files.

Took a lil extra look, and found a very neat cover of Claire de Lune. Kinda spacey/trippy cover with some strangly ear-tickling ASMR-ish qualities. Very nice recommendation of ya, to check out.

That's very tough but if I had to give my top 3 I'd probably say

  1. Mozart - Piano Sonata No. 16
  2. Vivaldi - Winter (slaps harder than the other 3 seasons, Spring is a close 2nd though)
  3. Bach - Minuet in G

Idk, not a classical music fan that much. Only "In the hall of the mountain King", "Moonlight Sonata [3]" and "Dance Macabre" are my peak.

Man, The End is Nigh OST is cool-

Cool, wild and Groovy beat.

Dmitri Shostakovich string quartet 8 in C, movement 2 is fuckin intense. I wanna hear someone do a metal cover of that.

Mekong Delta did a pretty neat cover of Mussorgsky's Bald Mountain and Eric Calderone did a good one of Moonlight Sonata. Dark Moor did Winter from Vivaldi's 4 Seasons, which I thought was really cool.

Winter by Vivaldi, it just goes so hard. Summer is very good too, but nothing beats winter.

Also I have no idea if it's considered classical, but ''Poor little country maid''/''The streets of Cairo''. Love that song so much.
