I REALLY like this illustration! For me, Ganondorf always steals the show in most Zelda related art, and this one is no exception. His head sillhouette flows really well!
One feedback I have is to push the gesture of the pose more. This is such a cool pose, but I think it could be a bit more impactful if the curves were a bit more exaggerated. Would you mind if I drew on top of it to show what I mean?
Sure, not at all! Go right ahead. Iβm eager to see what you do.
Here you go, I think my main feedback is that the original's silhouette felt just a bit cramped, which was the main thing I edited on my version.
Sorry for getting to this so late. School's been starting back up and I've been pretty busy.
Anyway, yes, I love this! You see, some of my biggest gripes with this artwork came from Ganondorf, and his silhouette in particular was one of them. I remember him being more difficult to draw than Link, going through many iterations before I arrived at my conclusion. In that sense I am still proud of how he turned out, but the final result just isn't entirely ideal.
One of my challenges was that I wanted a particular frame of composition that built Focus, and that the characters weren't so far away that it would lose detail. That is, for the final drawing at least. However, for Wallpaper Edits and such where the frame is greatly extended, this issue is nonexistent. Obviously I could've worked around it without losing much, but that was my thought process at the time.
If anything my want for Focus lead to the final drawing being way too cramped. It shows most in Ganondorf's pose, but you can see it in the overall positioning of the other characters as well. I tend to prioritize the element of Focus in my art, as part of my own personal philosophy. But I think that lead to many fears and avoidances which negatively impacted the final drawing.
But let me not get carried away. All that aside, thank you so much for this demonstration! It's greatly appreciated. I feel like I've learned alot from this.
