Welcome to Halloween Club! I’m your ghost host, Theta! Hopefully to be considered a partner to the Horrorverse Fan Club (of which I’m an active member), this one is less about the horror genre specifically, and more about all things related to the holiday, spooky or sweet! The creative aspects are especially welcome here - they’re my favorite part!

Here it’s Halloween every day of the year, so there’s no such thing as an off-season post! Draw horror! Discuss decorations! Send selfies in costume! Anything goes so long as you keep it sweet and don’t be creepy in, well, a real life way.

I’ll start off the convo.

Does it ever take the wind out of your sails to see somebody else in the same costume you’re thinking about going as? Usually in real life, I’d have a positive reaction to an “oh my god there’s two of us” moment, but online, if I see someone doing what I was thinking of doing, it just makes me feel rejected somehow.

Obviously, the answer is not to just hide from the world, but I’m looking for advice on how to cope more effectively and healthily with this weird feeling.

But what comes to your question: I've never had the chance to actually celebrate it since we don't really have it in the rural Finland. Buuuut now I live in a big city and I'm thinking of going to a Halloweener party for a first time, prolly as a clown, cuz I've actually been an actual clown before and I feel most confident about pulling that costume right

To be honest, I feel like I was kinda creepy as a regular, normal clown, so I might just do what I always did: be myself but in make-up.

But ye, being a clown is fun. Clownery is an art form. It's the total opposite of acting, as the idea of being a clown is taking your own personality and multiplying it to comedic levels. If you're melancholic, be a very sad bitch clown. If you're bubbly and happy, be an annoying fuck.

I also know how to make balloon animals. My specialty is blowing the long balloons myself and passing out without falling over. Kids love it. They think it's acting, but I legit just barely stay up and for several seconds I have no idea where I am.

If you've ever blown or tried blowing those long balloons, you know how hard it is.

Not really a hot take, but mostly something I find stupid. Buffy and Van helsing get to kill vampires and they're seen as heroes. But the moment I do it, I'm called the monster. Also, it was holding candy for some reason.

It's just a super sweet almost like playdoh flavor at least for me, It's just not appetizing like mmmm I'll take a fistful of playdoh corn please!

Ahhhh yeah that thing. I got it almost done but then all sorts of stuff happened and I kinda just forgot about it.

You uhhhh wouldn't happen to have the reference pic with ya still? I can't find it and I got two perfectly perfect free days from work starting tomorrow to draw n do artsy shit all day long
