Where, exactly? Pacific or Atlantic? You can't decide to take a trip to Antarctica, so that's off limits. North Europe/ Asia is patrolled by Russians, so you probably don't want to find yourself running into Russian military vessels. North America you've got U.S., so you probably don't want that, either. So the only way to get to the ice wall would be East or West.
