SO here's an update from mine, all the revisions and rough animation are now done and moving on to clean ups. Also are blodd splatter effects ok or too gorey for Jazza? my plan is make some blood squirt out when she dismembers her arm and head.
Wow btw is it okay if I ask a few questions?
1) how many frames did you draw
2) what software did you use
3) how many key frames do you have
4) how long did the rough animation take?
5) your rough animation looks very good :3

1. I drew 60 frames running on doubles, a few of them are on singles
2. I used toon boom Harmony 10
3. It has 38 key frames, the rest are in betweens
4. took me about 4 days in the span of 1 week or two, didn't keep track of it
5. Thank YOU :D

I still have no idea where to start. I know absolutely nothing about dancing so I don't know how I'm going to do this

Do what I did, go onto youtube and watch people dancing then pick out a few different moves and making some combinations. There is nothing wrong with using references to help you plus the animation only needs to be 2 - 4 seconds long with 2 beats per second

I don't believe you HAVE to have one, a silent vid is fine

If this is you very first actual attempt at animation, beginner category. If you're a person with experience with animation before, open category.

Left my workstation for the weekend to go out of state, so I didn't have much time to do anything on my animation. Still, I at least managed to fix the design I was originally going to go with and make something new. I went with an Irish vampire since the dance I did has a lot of inspiration from Irish step dancing! I just have to add a few details in the ears/on the vest and fix the line weights and I'll be close to starting to animate him!

Here's my progress, been working on it since Friday, so like 3 days. I hope everyone else is having fun despite the restrictions. (BTW, ill add the coloured background when I'm doing the colour if i do have time for colour).
I still have to finish the Dress and do the Hair of the character before line art...

I'm very new to animation and digital art, this is what I have so far... it's rather clunky, and I can't help but feel that something is off but I don't know what so I was hoping if some people could please offer me some advice before I loop it and submit it....

I have a question. I am a pixel artist and animator can i do pixel animation in a small resolution then pixel scale it to 1280x720 or 1920x1080.

Like this fist image is the original size the second one is pixel scale 3 times.
can i do animation like that and the finish animation to be in the resolution of the rules?

I assume youre capable of doing that, if the resolution is between 1280 x 720 or 1920 x 1080 at the end, it's fine.

16:9 is the resolution size, resolutions such as 1920 x 1080 pixels and 1280 x 720 pixels are 16:9.

Again, are characters allowed to use magic? If so, are glows allowed on them?

You can do effects, but they must not glow, no added light effects.

In my experience, the single best animation software for Ipad is 'Animation Desk'. It has the essentials and can be used to produce fairly nice animations compared to other Ipad programs... Beware though, all ipad animation programs have been pretty lackluster compared to computer based ones.

Yeah sure thing! YOu won't probably see it till the 25 since I'll put as much as I can into it. Though if your from the west, the 25 comes a little bit early in the east so I might post it a little bit earlier/

I was just wondering if you guys thought this was too gory? I was thinking seeing as Jazza recently posted a video where he did an effect where his head was chopped off that this is probably fine.
But if it does seem like too much, I can get rid of the blood.
