Nope, I got into game collecting at a fairly young age and just acquired them over the span of my childhood and adolescence.

Being a game system collector takes patience and plenty of money. I have always had the desire and the patience, but not always the money.

Happy birthday.

I got myself the magnum opus of handhelds: The Gameboy Advance. Complete in Arctic White, the same color as my first GBA back then.

How are you enjoying it?

Well I usually get my games used from local used game stores and pawn shops, it's a lot cheaper than buying them brand new from Walmart or Gamestop.

I agree that getting used video games can save you tons of money. I tend to always keep my games, and never trade them back in.

Not a bad hand held system.

The software library has nearly a decade of material going for the 3ds atm , not to mention it's backwards compatible with regular DS titles. Though it's evident that nintendo's giving the handheld less attention,what with the Switch being out for more than year now...
I wonder if the switch is going to get the same treatment of getting different iterations ,if it were a case . I would buy one once if it were to have better battery life capable of a little more than a couple hours

Having such a large library and backwards compatibility are both amazing.

The Switch is a great home console and a hand hold system.

I think Nintendo will do everything possible to support the Switch. It will be the main focus of a home and hand hels console combined into one.

Though it's Eshop virtual console selection may not be enough to rival that of the wii's ,it's still a purchase I don't regret...
and seeing what's available for the Switch on nintendo's website ,It's pretty hard to rule it out as a option with the competition of sony and microsoft going against it. the 299 dollar price for the system is not bad

Just curious what would you consider to be a Entry level gamer?

The Switch is a great game system and is sold for a fair price. People should really give it a chance.

A causal gamer, or somebody who recently started gaming within the last six months.

Hmm... I would say my top ones would be Wii, DS Lite, then PS3 (though I do admit I own a lot of genesis games on those systems as well).
PC is also pretty good, but, I like having physical copies of games more, and to add to that... my computer can be a pain sometimes...

As for the Switch, there are a lot of games on it I really want to play, and plan to get it when ever I can afford it, same with the PS4.

There are other older systems I want to get as well.

Currently Own:
PC
PS4
PS3
Nintendo 64
Nintendo 3DS
Nintendo NES Classic Edition

Former Glory (sold/killed in action):
Texas Instruments TI-99/4A Home Computer. Yes really. It had chess. (fate unknown, MIA)
† Nintendo Gameboy (RIP my first handheld)
† Nintendo DS Lite
† Nintendo 2DS
$ Nintendo NES
$ Nintendo Wii
$ Nintendo GameCube
$ XBox
† XBox 360
† Playstation 2
$ Playstation PSP
† Playstation 3
† Playstation 3 (yeah, I've had 3)

I think my all time fave (mobile) was my GameBoy, (standard) is a tie between N64 and XBox for the multiplayer fun. So many consoles succumbed to the hardware issue known as "children", who would drop them, mash the cartridges in backwards, and in one case (PS3) try to feed it a granola bar through the disk slot because "it looked hungry".

Picking a home console and a portable is a good idea.

PC is also pretty good, but, I like having physical copies of games more, and to add to that... my computer can be a pain sometimes...

Every computer can be slow or have virus issues.

As for the Switch, there are a lot of games on it I really want to play, and plan to get it when ever I can afford it, same with the PS4.

The Switch is the hottest Game System around. It is worth the price.

There are other older systems I want to get as well.

Which older systems do you want to get next?

It's not really either of those, It has been having driver issues since some of the more recent Windows 10 updates, and it has randomly rebooted itself on it's own before.

I've been job hunting for a long while, so I'm hoping it goes well soon, and if it does, then I can get a Switch!

I want to get a SNES, NES, and Gameboy Advance. I know the DS Lite plays gba games, but you can play original gameboy and Gameboy Color games on the Gameboy Advance.

I am also considering getting a RetroN5 instead, it covers all those systems, but the downsides are that it can't play Duck Hunt.
Also with the RetroN5, I can't take the Gameboy and Gameboy Color games on the go, but seeing them on a TV screen, instead of a small gba screen would be nice too.

Your brother and family do a great job sharing all of those computers. You all must be very close and get along well.

i just got one of those bootleg 220 in one systems. it's pretty wacky.

the games steal sprites from megaman and kirby, and some of the games are straight up stolen.

there's a donkey kong clone, a pac man clone (called "eat bean"), and a clone of the world's hardest game. yeah, the online game here on newgrounds. it's crazy.

(i might make a thread reviewing it later, so stay tuned!)
