Hi, guys! So I've had a great interest in animation for awhile and I decided I would start to invest in it more seriously. I'm still very much at the beginning of my journey here, barely getting bouncing balls and pendulums down properly, but I wanted to have a place where I could look back on my progress chronologically and hopefully get some feedback. It'll also be my way to keep myself accountable (dead topic = get to it!).

I know that for now all of these are very wobbly for now, but I want to get them up anyways because they're part of my learning journey. Currently, this is all in Flash, but I'm already planning to order TVPaint. Soon!

There's significant improvement on your tests, so I applaud you for making this far.

All tests and good an all, though I believe you can take your fourth test to another level.

My suggestion: Instead of having both her hand and her face starting and ending at the same time, try breaking it up a bit; maybe delay one element's movement. Doing so will give your animation a more natural feel.

Thanks! That's incredibly encouraging. (:
It's funny because I'd decided against doing a different timing for different body parts, but now that you mention it, it really did kill the believability of it. I'll definitely give it a try!

A surprised little flour sack. This animation thing is very time consuming and not easy at all haha but worth it!
(Also this probably works best if I post the images this way to really see all my work without clicking links.)

Ah yes, the flour sack test -- I remembered this when I had to do it as an assignment.

Try exaggerate a bit when it pops up so it'll look more surprised -- maybe a bit more squash-stretch for its body.

And the tassles, give a bit of secondary motion as it ends its pop.

Yeah, just a little bit of animation on the tassels can really bump the quality up a few levels. They're loose pieces of extra cloth that respond the the momentum of the rest of the object, like a cape or ponytail would on a person jumping. It doesn't require too much more work to make them continue forward when the sack reaches it's peak, then fall back down and settle on their own timing, and the improved believability is great!

Thanks so much for the feedback, guys! Sorry for taking so long to respond, first week of classes and whatnot.
Turns out I uninstalled Flash from my computer.

...to make way for this bad boy! (Finally sorted out everything with unlock codes and whatnot, so I'm excited! Will be posting soon, still figuring my way around it.)

First lip sync test! The blink's a bit slow, but since this was made just to get me used to TVPaint and how it works, I'll just call it done and try to get back to some more basic exercises.

Drapery is hard, but at least I'm getting the hang of clean up and color! (:
