Anything by Neil Gaiman or Alan Moore is pretty good. Except for Lost Girls and any of Moore's Avatar Press comics. Not his best...
Frank Miller before he got out of control with All Star Batman and Robin is p good too. The early Sin City stuff is worth checking out purely for the visuals.
I think I'm one of the few people that actually enjoys Savage Dragon by Erik Larsen.
What exactly are you looking for OP? A tight story or tight visuals? Humor? Horror? Action?

A good visual and good story. I like reading a bit of any genre really. I was just want a good read. I read criminal Macabre by steve neils to Amulet by Kazu Kibushi to any Spider man comics. I looked up Neil Gaiman and he has some interesting like Creatures of the night. I read some of Alans V for Vendetta, that was pretty cool.

I'd recommend the British version of Sonic The Comic back from the 90s and it began repeating itself after it ended so it may have lasted a while longer. Especially the earlier comics were incredibly good, the ones after 100 began to introduce random aliens and shit because they ran out of ideas but the actual main story that went from Sonic and Robotnik's origins, the freedom fighters taking root and fighting against Robotnik, the creation of Metallix and Shortfuse leading to the Chaotix getting involved with Knuckles and the Brotherhood of Metallix saving the Miracle Planet to eventually having Robotnik taking over Angel Island and fusing with the Master Emerald where Knuckles defeated him seemingly for good. That was a great comic! After that climax it lost its flair though.
It also had actual good Tails stories. I know right? Good Tails stories!
100 Bullets is good. Very story driven, and you connect with the characters.
Y: The Last Man
Basically, a virus kills every dude on earth except for one guy and his monkey, now he has to live his life in a world of just women and look for his girlfriend, feminists are trying to kill him and he meets a bunch of good characters in his journey, it's totally worth a read.
