Happy Robot Day everyone! Enjoy the robot themed movies, games, music and art that arrive on NG today.

This is the fifth annual Robot Day, which has never been a HUGE event but is likely to be the smallest yet because it was announced late and never pushed hard. It probably wouldn't even have happened if koit hadn't told me he already made something for it!

I feel bad about neglecting Robot Day, though; it feels like it has the potential to be something big. Maybe the whole thing should become a 1-2 week jam each year, where we announce a robot-related theme and people rush to make games, movies, art and music around that theme... Robot Jam! Robot Day would be the deadline where everyone presents what they made. Does that sound like the way to go for next year?

For example, maybe the theme could have been Big Dog and right now we'd have a bunch of hilarious games, movies and art about Big Dog... Hard to say if music would work... Maybe musicians would just team up with the animators and game developers.

I don't want to sound too bummed though because there is still a lot of great robot stuff today and more on the way before the day ends! Let me know your thoughts on the future of Robot Day!

Also it's Follow Friday so show koit some love. This is his tenth year releasing funny songs and videos on NG and we're gonna have a late night koit marathon on the NG Facebook, starting tonight at 9pm EST.

I think the jam idea is something to be explored. We can try it next year and give it a shot. Maybe we can have the jam and still let people do traditional stuff as well. Have an overall winner for the jam and a winner for Robot Day as a whole. You can always try a small scale test of it for Clock Day or something. Clock Day- JAM AND SPAM!

Just my opinion: Robot Day has always been one of my favorite NG days, because it's robots! I like how simple the theme is, it's not referencing any past NG thing like Madness or Pico, so anyone can join in. I just really like robots! But that's just my opinion!

I couldn't have said it better myself; specific themes would really bring the creativity of Robot Day down (in my opinion).
