No this is not a thread asking for new genres. Believe it or not, this is a thread announcing new genres!

After a long discussion in this thread, the staff have done these changes to the genres:

1.) Changing the 'Latin' genre to 'World'.
2.) Adding an 'Experimental' genre in 'Other'.
3.) Adding a 'Cinematic' genre in 'Other'.
4.) Adding a 'Solo Instrument' genre in 'Easy Listening'.
5.) Adding a 'Fusion' genre in 'Other'.

Discuss.

Elated am though. Now if I can one day manage to split the Jazz genre into categories, I can finally die happy.

I like the Experimental and Fusion songs :v

What the hell NG? Still no new-wave darkened fuzzcore?

Response to New Genres! 2013-04-24 10:51:40

I have a few new songs that can be considered fusion. :D

Response to New Genres! 2013-04-24 10:52:50

Oh praise be! Now time to switch some of my songs' genres.

Elaborate 'Fusion'. Mixing two genres?

Mixing two or more in roughly equal amounts or that you find elements of them going all throughout the piece.

When I suggested the Experimental and Fusion genres to the "other" section (along with some weirder genres) I intended to write a joke, but I thought a little to hard about it. I suppose other people thought even harder about accepting these genres, so I think it will work anyway. The other genres sound interesting as well. I think it's an improvement.

i think 'fusion' is most commonly used as shorthand for 'jazz/rock fusion' though, but whatever! this is all g.

p.s. i am gay

This.

But I'll live through it, although it'll be hard to not put Jazz Fusion under the Fusion label without a tiny cringe.

Nothing to discuss, just pure joy!

though I don't have as many to switch as some of you do

Response to New Genres! 2013-04-24 15:01:21

Just added a new song to Cinematic. So excited! Will be switching a lot of my stuff over eventually. :DDDD

Thanks everyone for your ideas and the mods/admins for implementing them! Good to see some good things getting done. :)

A welcome improvement ... "world" was needed very much. Thank you! Also, differentiating between classical and cinematic is a nice clarification ... they're often very different genres, aside from the instrumentation.

Wait wait wait wait WAIT!!!

There's a FUSION and a SOLO genre now?! :DDDDDDDD

Now 99% of my tracks don't have to be Miscellaneous!!! <3 <3 <3

Response to New Genres! 2013-04-25 00:11:13

I still wish they would move ambient to either 'other' or 'easy listening'.

There's plenty of ambient music that isn't electronic, so there's not much point in limiting it like that.

Response to New Genres! 2013-04-29 05:12:26

I feel lame because I can't go change any of my genres ):
Time to make some World Fusion experimental...stuff...

Am currently enjoying all the cinematic stuff that's been swapped over. Never bothered to look in classical for those. Good job :)

Nice cinematic stuff guys :3

Response to New Genres! 2013-04-29 06:28:50

Very nice.

But sorry, Miscellaneous is fair game to me.

I have another idea which would be great imo. I've illustrated it up. The concept is simple, and the technology is already existing on the audio main page.

What I suggest is a play all which goes through it track per track depending on sorting. You can see the panel that I have added between the sorting drop downs and list of tracks. The track which is playing could also be highlighted slightly as shown in the image.
