As much as I liked Infestissumam I felt Opus Eponymous was a bit better.

For some reason I don't like it nearly as much as Opus Eponymous. It might be simply a matter of expectations; when I heard Opus, I had no idea what to expect since I'd never heard Ghost, but I had kinda high hopes for their new album. I'm also not crazy about the mix of Infestissumam (slight clipping on what sounds like the drum track), but I don't feel like that would cause complete disinterest. I wish I could get into it as much as I did Opus but it's just not happening for me.
Anyways, I've been listening to Nightwish recently. I feel like they're one of those bands that gets better the further back you go into their discog; their new stuff is good but imo Oceanborn is their best.
It made more sense in my head.

Well I mainly feel the way I do about it because I loved Opus Eponymous and had higher hopes for Infestissumam.

I actually strongly prefer the singing on Opus. I'm not sure why that is, but I do know that I'm definitely not an authority on vocal quality :P I have to agree about the songwriting being better, but the songs on Opus were somehow a lot more memorable for me. I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed the mediocre mastering.
