Alright, I think I could have got another shot done before the deadline but I think I've pushed it close enough, so here's what I have of mine;

http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/81a7f3c63cee370c86ee4b57 15f475fe

What I initially intended on being a 1 minute movie is now something like 5 minutes long..and I cut out nearly every "C" shot which made up over half the animation, so the end might not make as much sense as it otherwise would have.
Basically it's about a hunter who hates animals, elephants in particular.
I've only managed to fully animate about the first minute, but that's what I get for leaving the animation to the last 3 days..

and here it is!

http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/71aea57045d1a729ee22879b ba2e8932

it's "finished" enough to get the whole story, but visually it's very incomplete. a lot of it is basically an animatic.
now to relax!

Mine is on its way. My crappy laptop decided to crash at 11:45 while I was exporting my file, and it's still trying to reboot Flash. Hopefully it won't take a half hour and more deducted points (although five can't really hurt it anymore -- it's pretty unfinished!).

I had a happier ending planned after the final scene, but I ran out of time. I am curious though, do you guys want me to complete the final scene or should I upload this as it is?
BTW, I PROMISE to NOT make my next cartoon a big downer!

HERE IS MINE!:

http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/f0a027a3d9cd73c3cfc8a27b 501c2ef5

It is very incomplete, so the theme might not be understandable. I wanted to submit it anyhow. I'm definitely going to finish it, but man, I need a break!

OK, so in the tiny, literal minute sized gaps of connection I occasionally got, I managed to get it uploaded to the dumping grounds.
Unfortunately I can't go to an internet cafe or friends house because it's 3:00AM here. o_o
I'm going to keep trying to getting uploaded proper but at least it's there.

Christ, what a palava.

I really like the story that was told in this animation. Regardless of if you finished or not, you should be proud of yourself. Also you called it the 5th stage. Is that from spirit science?

My girlfriend (a psychology student). Pointed out that the 5th stage of grief is acceptance (also the .swf's name was acceptance :P)

Bingo.
Glad you liked it! There was a good minute I had to cut out due to time limitations but I think it turned out alright. I don't think I'm gonna get through to next round to be honest, VieRickend is far too talented for the likes of me. Still, I had fun doing it. shame it turned into a stress-fest at the end with my terri-bad internet connection, which has only NOW finally stopped being sucky.

I'll probably submit my entry to the portal after judging is done, to avoid confusion.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if you beat me this round. You did a bang up job! I thought you're video was absolutely wonderful, both animation and storywise.

I was a little nervous Tom would disqualify me for using some of the music from castle crashers, but seeing that he actually gave me a score is relieving.

Now is the perfect time for me to post the scores that I remember and make people extra nervous! >:P (maybe fake a few while I'm at it)

..........................meh.

Anyways, looking forward to seeing the results tomorrow (?). If there are any judges out there reading this: I'm sure that I'm not the only one who would love some constructive criticism... and maybe an advice or two...?

Of course, if any of the contestants would like to share some tips and tricks as well, I'm all ears :)

I second that...
Well i guess once this is over i think it will be a good idea for everyone to write what they think/like/dislike, give tips and overall criticism about everyone else based on nata performance (i don't know what prevents from doing it now but it would look nicer if we all do it at the same time hehe)

I'm thinking no one wants to sacrifice whatever edge they might have over their direct competitors/potential competitors by telling them what they need to improve on.

though, whatever effect that might have would probably be minimal.

I think commentors are a great source for constructive criticism too, not just the judges, like, ive been improving thanks to comments people have left about my submitions, since the first one.

one or two of you guys made the soundtracks for your own movies. What programs do you lovely men use? I'm trying to get started with FL Studio

I used MilkyTracker. It's free and easy to get the hang of, but it only makes chip tunes.

I use a free version of Cockos Reaper. Its not as user friendly as Fl studios for tracking midi based music but if your mixing live and synthesized instrument its the best free software I know of. For a beginner Fl is probably best although its pretty expensive if you want to be able to open your save projects. Also, Audacity does more than most people realise and its totally free.

Speaking of audio software, I recently got a MIDI connector for my Yamaha keyboard, and tried to download free software that would record MIDI, and the ones I found sucked, to put it lightly. Do any of you know of any good free or super-cheap software I could download to record from my keyboard?
